What story or message does the song convey? Feeling so drawn, so attracted and so full about the person that is most hurting you, and you know it, your rationales are in the right place, but you just can't stay away from.

Q: For readers who may be discovering Corella for the first time, can you give us a little background on the band? CORELLA: We’re from different parts of the north of England, and we all moved to Manchester around nine or ten years ago. We didn’t know each other before that — we met at university because we were staying in the same halls. It was totally by fate. We’d all come to Manchester wanting to start a band, and luckily we ended up in the same place.

Q: The title Where the Light Begins to Fade feels like a very specific moment—not total darkness, but the point where things start to change. What does the title mean to you? IF NOT FOR ME: The title actually came from a line in “Retrograde.” The record doesn’t have one consistent story running through it; this was an album where we experimented with a lot of different things, and I didn’t want to put myself in a box with the subject matter.

Angel Du$t made their way up to Portland for the 3rd annual Rockstar Energy Open skate competition and concert at Tom McCall Waterfront. The boys sat down with us before hitting the stage to chat a bit about music, skating and wrestling random strangers at McDonald’s.

What inspired the theme or concept behind this album? I wanted to make a record that combines math rock, dance beats and loops. Something that is interesting to listen to that still makes you wanna dance.

nterview with Shy Blossom's Adriana McDonald. What inspired the creation of this single? This was the first song I had ever written on my guitar. It was used as my escape really. I was feeling really sad, lonely, and isolated. I ended up turning those feelings into this song.

What inspired the theme or concept behind this album? The idea behind Nowadays came from learning to appreciate what exists right now instead of constantly looking backward or worrying about what's ahead. Even the title reflects that mindset, finding meaning in everyday moments that might otherwise go unnoticed. Nostalgia runs throughout the album, but not in a sentimental way. The songs are less concerned with reliving the past than with understanding how memories shape who

hat inspired the theme or concept behind this album? Everyday life experiences walking through Los Angeles, CA. Were there any particular events or emotions that shaped the songwriting? Life.

What first got you into music? My family was always very musical, my mom sang and played guitar, and my dad played trombone. Some of my earliest memories are going to his community band concerts! I started playing the trombone myself in 6th grade beginning band.

What first got you into music? My Dad played in a band when my Mom was pregnant with me and apparently I kicked to the beat in the womb. There was a period when I was about 4 when I would only answer to the name Van Halen. First name Van, last name Halen. But when I was about 12 Nirvana made me realize I could actually write and play music of my own. They were the lighthouse that directed me to the shore of punk rock.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard it before? Oooh, that is a great question! I would say freeform jazz because there is no one genre I play in. SPF Presents... is about the freedom of letting the music leading me to wherever it takes me. Sometimes it is bright or poppy, sometimes noisy, sometimes dark.

What first got you into music? What first got me into music were local shows. Those were the first places where it felt like true liberation from your daily worries, where you could dance away the night without thought about tomorrow.
