nterview with Jesse Perkins. What first got you into music? My dad had an acoustic guitar and used to play Dylan songs. And then we finally got MTV around 1986 and my head exploded. How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard it before? Grungy alt-country jams.

What inspired the creation of this single? I’d been listening to a lot of early Dan Auerbach and older Hill Country Blues records lately and became slightly obsessed with that sound. I started experimenting with a repetitive, swampy riff just to see where it would take me. Swamps and amphibians go hand in hand, so the whole thing just clicked.

What inspired the creation of this single? “See Me Now” came from looking back at a relationship where I was made to feel like parts of who I am, were flaws — like I was difficult, too much, or just hard to love, and realizing how different my life looks now. I found someone who loves me for so many of the exact things I was once told made me unlovable. The song grew out of that feeling of wanting to say, “You should see me now. Everything you made me believe about myself

What inspired the theme or concept behind this album? I spent some time in a mental health facility, and coming out of that I really wanted to tap into my more metal-focused side artistically, especially after my last two EP’s being very pop, so I went through some old demos and kind of just picked these out, did some work and gradually found the orchestral metalcore style as I went on.

What story or message does the song convey? This track is about feeling the need to be perfect to fit society and others around you's standards and losing yourself completely in it. The feeling of emptiness and being dead inside while still having to portray a happy face on the outside.

What first got you into music? I would always be hearing music in Mum's house and Dad's house as they both loved a wide variety of music and I would always be near the CD player or the Vinyl player just listening when it was on (when not being a chaotic toddler or a crazy kid). What first got you into music? Guitar Hero 1. My dad plays guitar. My grandpa played multiple instruments and sang a lot. For some reason, music and playing guitar never clicked with me until I played guitar hero 1.

What inspired the creation of this single? Night Prowler is about police brutality and small-town violence. I was spending a lot of time commuting to and from college when I wrote it. During the autumn, when the sun would set before I drove home, I remember passing all these police cars lurking among the trees. I couldn't shake the feeling that they were like vampires or predators waiting for a moment to pounce.

What first got you into music? People often expect a simple answer to this question. Usually, it's something about hearing a record, picking up a guitar for the first time, or dreaming of standing on a stage. Those are beautiful stories, but they are not ours. Music didn't enter our lives as an ambition. It entered as a language. Like many musicians, each of us has travelled a different artistic path over the years.

I started writing songs back in the late 90s, but had to put those dreams away because of career, family, etc. In the past several years I've picked it back up and I'm finally recording and releasing my first album fulfilling a lifelong dream.
