What inspired the creation of this single?

The track was written in a flurry of anger and catharsis, beginning with a single question: What would it feel like if what was done to me was thrown back at the person who did it?

What story or message does the song convey?

"Cement" is a revenge fantasy that ultimately ends with the realization that the best way to heal is to walk away from what's hurt you.

Can you tell us about the creative process?

The song had several lives before it took its final form. First, it was a crunchy guitar-driven anthem that raged from beginning to end. When I worked with Dossey on the production, we realized it was more effective to have it seethe with quiet rage. We brought in nostalgic trip hop elements and paired it with modern production to make it feel rooted in the year 2026.

How does this song differ from your previous releases?

Unlike my other releases, this track is entirely electronic. It has a thinner sonic landscape, which lets the lyrics really cut through.

What challenges did you face while writing or recording?

I experienced a bit of "demo-itis" while recording this song, because I was so attached to the original version. Over time, however, I realized the track needed this kind of dynamic shift to really feel effective.

Did you experiment with any new instruments, techniques, or styles?

Yes! This is the first time I've sampled my own voice to create a counter melody. I like how that element feels both old and new.

Is there a personal connection or story tied to the lyrics?

Absolutely. This song is about a person in my life who clouded my vision. It's an exploration of the rage, pain and hurt that buried me for so long. Through the process of writing this song, I realized that I'm the only one who can heal myself.

Have you performed it live yet, and what was the audience’s reaction?

yes - many times! It's the one that venues often share on their social media pages. I think.

Is this single part of a larger project, like an album or EP?

It's the lead single of my EP, "Daisy Chain."
