Interview: Shy Blossom Chat About Their New Single "Eternity"
Interview with Shy Blossom's Adriana McDonald.
What inspired the creation of this single?
This was the first song I had ever written on my guitar. It was used as my escape really. I was feeling really sad, lonely, and isolated. I ended up turning those feelings into this song.
What story or message does the song convey?
Eternity conveys the feeling of isolation and loneliness, and how a person may feel when they’re trapped in those feelings.
Can you tell us about the creative process?
I wrote this song on my acoustic guitar in 2021. I just played my guitar and let the melodies and words flow out. It stayed just acoustic for a while until I brought it to my band, and we added pauses, took out sections and added other sections to make the listener feel themselves go through the changes in the song.
How does this song differ from your previous releases?
Compared to our previous releases, I would say this song still has that melancholic feel that most of our songs have, but I do think that this song has more a driving feel and keeps the listeners more engaged.
What challenges did you face while writing or recording?
We did not really face any challenges while writing or recording this single. If there had to be one, I would maybe say how long it sat on the back burner till me and my band started to bring it to life.
Did you experiment with any new instruments, techniques, or styles?
We did not really experiment with any new instruments, techniques, or styles for this song as a band. However, we did have a cello player add a line into this song! We’ve never had cello in any previous song.
Is there a personal connection or story tied to the lyrics?
When I was 15, I wrote this song because I was feeling lonely and isolated and I put those feelings into the song it is now.
Have you performed it live yet, and what was the audience’s reaction?
We have performed this song live only two times and I feel the fans became more interactive and livelier after we played the song.
Is this single part of a larger project, like an album or EP?
Eternity is just a single for now; we do not have plans to put it in a larger project.
