Interview with Michael Bianchi of Consequence of Energy about their new album We Are One released on Friday January 30, 2026.

What inspired the theme or concept behind this album?

What’s interesting is that the album wasn’t fully understood while we were making it. We didn’t start with a rigid concept. The meaning revealed itself after the process. Only toward the end did we realize the record was about division—internal and external, personal and collective—but also about the duality of life’s contrasts: light and shadow, strength and fragility, instinct and consciousness.

As the album took shape, we understood it was also reflecting how we evolve as human beings—how those contrasts don’t cancel each other out, but shape who we become. In a way, the album explained itself to us, not the other way around.

The incorporation of native flutes, ancestral percussion, shamanic chant–inspired vocals, synthesizers, and heavy rock textures became part of that realization, blending the ancient with the modern, and reinforcing the idea of evolution through contrast.

Were there any particular events or emotions that shaped the songwriting?

The songwriting came from a place of uncertainty rather than clarity. There was questioning, tension, vulnerability, and also moments of hope. We were processing personal struggles, global chaos, and the feeling of being caught between worlds—between nature and society, belief and doubt, strength and fragility.

Those emotions shaped the songs more than any single event, and that’s why blending ancestral elements with synthesizers and heavy rock felt natural. It mirrored that inner contrast between the ancient and the modern, the instinctive and the constructed.

Were there any challenges you faced during the recording process?

One of the biggest challenges was letting go of control. Many songs were born from improvisation and instinct—sometimes starting with a native rhythm, a flute line, a raw chant, or an unplanned electronic texture layered over guitars.

The temptation was to overwork them. Learning when to stop, when to trust the feeling of a take, and when to leave imperfections intact was a real lesson. Emotion mattered more than polish.

Which track was the most fun to create, and why?

The most fun tracks were the ones that started as open jams, where no one knew where the song was going. Those sessions often felt closer to rituals than rehearsals—percussion, chants, synths, and distorted guitars evolving organically.

Those moments feel like play rather than work—pure energy exchange. When a song reveals itself naturally, that’s when creating music feels effortless and alive.

Did any collaborations influence the sound or direction of this project?

Yes. Collaborating with people who aren’t afraid to challenge you changes everything. Working with producers like Garth Richardson, as well as close creative allies such as Dave Polo and Ñawi Tisoy, pushed us to dig deeper emotionally and sonically.

Each collaboration brought a different perspective—technical, emotional, or spiritual—and helped the album stay honest, grounded, and real, without losing its experimental edge.

Did you experiment with any new techniques, instruments, or styles on this record?

Definitely. We explored atmosphere, space, and texture more than ever, blending native flutes, ancestral percussion, and shamanic chant–inspired vocals with synthesizers and the heavy, dynamic rock foundation that defines us.

Rather than separating the organic from the modern, we let them coexist—ancient sounds breathing through electronic layers, ritual rhythms colliding with distortion and melody.

The goal was vibration, not excess. We wanted the music to be felt physically and emotionally, almost like a ritual rather than a performance.

How do you feel this album represents your evolution as a band?

This album marks a shift toward trust—trust in each other and trust in the process. Instead of forcing ideas, we allowed the music to lead us, even when it meant stepping into unfamiliar sonic or emotional territory.

Blending ancestral elements with modern rock and electronic textures taught us to listen more and control less. That understanding is a big step forward for us.

What do you hope your fans take away from this album?

That it’s okay not to have all the answers. That feeling divided or conflicted is part of being human. And that connection—within yourself and with others—is possible, even when things feel broken.

If the album offers someone reflection, grounding, comfort, or strength, that means everything to us.

Have fans influenced the direction of your music or this album in any way?

Yes. Over time, fans have shown us that vulnerability resonates more deeply than image or attitude. Knowing that listeners connect with emotional honesty encouraged us to lean further into raw expression, organic sounds, and spiritual undertones on this record.

What can fans expect from your upcoming tour or album release events?

An immersive experience. We want the live shows to feel like stepping into the world of the album—not just hearing the songs but feeling them.

Expect intensity, intimacy, dynamic contrasts, and moments that feel almost ceremonial, with a strong energy exchange between the band and the audience.

Do you have any music videos planned for the album? What can you share about them?

Yes. Visuals are an important extension of the album. The videos focus on symbolism rather than literal storytelling—nature, transformation, ritual, inner journeys, and contrast.

They’re designed to feel more like moving emotions than narratives.

If you could describe this album in three words, what would they be?

Revealing. Unifying. Human.

Is there a specific moment during the album’s creation that you’ll always remember?

Finishing “Bridge Divide.” That song wasn’t planned as the conclusion, but it became the moment when everything clicked. Once it existed, the entire album suddenly made sense.

It felt like the final piece of a puzzle snapping into place.

Do you have a tour booked or is one being booked to promote the album?

Yes, plans are actively in motion. We’re being intentional about where and how we present this album live, choosing spaces and moments that allow the music—and its emotional and ritual layers—to breathe and connect on a deeper level.

Anything Else That You'd Like the Fans to Know.

This album is a reflection of trust—trust in the process, in each other, in our collaborators, and in the listener.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to listen, feel, and connect. This record belongs as much to you as it does to us.
