May 7, 2025: Dexter and The Moonrocks – four guys from Abilene, TX who, in two short years, have ascended from blue collar workers to the future of modern rock music, quietly selling out larger and larger shows across the US– today revealed “Happy To Be Here,” a six-song EP and follow up to last year’s “Western Space Grunge.” The underdogs of alt rock, Dexter and The Moonrocks defied expectations with their debut radio single, “Sad in Carolina,” which spent seven weeks at #1 last year on the alternative rock chart and are now on track for a second smash with “Ritalin.” With several adds at the format set to go into effect next week, “Ritalin” will once again break the top 10. “Happy To Be Here” features their trademark melancholy lyrics set to fuzzy, downtuned guitars that would make even the most stoic cowboy weep and then mosh in a sweaty pit.

The band has spent most of 2025 on the road earning fans one room at a time, and they recently announced the “Happy to Be (everyw)Here Tour,” with dates across the US. By winning over fans one room at a time, the band has earned a reputation for explosive live shows, winning them slots at major festivals this year (on the heels of their packed performance at last fall’s Austin City Limits Festival), including Welcome to Rockville and Lovin’ Life Festivals this month and the iconic Warped Tour in July. After headlining room after room over the last two years, Dexter and The Moonrocks will play their first ever support slots this September for Cage The Elephant, Whiskey Myers, and Red Clay Strays. But first, tonight, the band will return to where it all started – Dexter and The Moonrocks announced a surprise EP release show at The Blue Light in Lubbock, TX – the first venue they sold out as a headliner. Surprises are in store to those lucky enough to be in the room.

In honor of “Happy To Be Here,” Dexter and The Moonrocks have pressed their first ever vinyl, “The Double EP.” Side A features all tracks from “Happy to Be Here” and Side B showcases songs from the group’s breakout hit EP “Western Space Grunge.” The limited edition vinyl pre-orders went live on March 27 to fans and the initial stock sold out in 15 minutes.
