Concert Review: Summer School Tour 2026 by idobi Radio Uptown Theatre, Minneapolis, MN

Class is in session! The Summer School Tour rolled through Minneapolis on July 17, bringing a stacked lineup of rising stars, fan favorites, and enough energy to keep the Uptown Theatre buzzing from start to finish. Featuring local support Lake Drive alongside Chase Petra, South Arcade, Games We Play, Winona Fighter, and headliners Honey Revenge, this was one of those shows where every band brought something different to the table. 

Lake Drive 

Milwaukee's own Lake Drive had the tough job of opening the night, but they absolutely delivered. Before the show, I had never heard of them, but I left the venue a fan. Vocalist Rayven mentioned that this was the biggest crowd the band had ever played for, which was surprising because they looked completely at home on stage. Their confidence, energy, and polished performance felt like a band already used to playing in much larger rooms. They're a group that is definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Chase Petra

Chase Petra kept the momentum going with a set that was equal parts powerful and captivating. Hunter's voice has always stood out to me because of how unique it is. There's something both powerful and slightly haunting about it that immediately grabs your attention. Their set was the perfect way to warm up the crowd and set the tone for the rest of the evening.

South Arcade

If there was one word to describe South Arcade, it would be fun. From the moment they hit the stage, their energy was infectious. The band had the crowd moving, smiling, and full locked in throughout their set. One trend that seems to have followed the Summer School Tour is a series of themed nights, pranks, and friendly bets between the bands. At the end of their set, vocalist Harmony revealed that South Arcade had lost a bet. As punishment, the band members removed their shirts to reveal matching bikini tops underneath, just like Harmony's. It was a hilarious moment that perfectly captured the carefree spirit of the tour. South Arcade's set was an absolute blast from start to finish.

Games We Play 

Games We Play brought some of the night's biggest laughs along with a set packed full of catchy songs. Their stage presence and comedic banter gave off major Blink-182 vibes, creating a fun, laid-back atmosphere that kept the crowd engaged between every song. It felt less like watching a performance and more like hanging out with friends who just happened to be playing a killer show. At one point, the band cracked open some beers on stage, which fit the overall vibe perfectly. Just a group of friends making music and living the dream.

Winona Fighter 

Winona Fighter was easily one of the standout performances of the night. Their energy level was absolutely unreal from start to finish. The crowd responded accordingly, with mosh pits opening up and crowd surfers making their way across the room throughout the set. The band commanded the stage with confidence and intensity, making them my personal favorite performance of the evening. If you get the chance to see Winona Fighter live, don't pass it up. I can confidently say you won't be disappointed.

Honey Revenge 

Closing out the night was Honey Revenge, and as always, they put on an incredible show. I've been following the band since the release of their first single, "Distracted" and it's been amazing to watch their growth over the years. Seeing them evolve from local support slots to headlining major tours is a testament to both their hard work and the connection they've built with fans. Their set was packed with energy, and the crowd gave it right back. It was the perfect ending to a night that celebrated everything fun about the current pop-punk and alternative scene.

The Summer School Tour proved exactly why it's becoming a must-see summer event. With every band bringing their own personality and style to the stage, the night never felt repetitive. From discovering a new favorite in Lake Drive to witnessing the chaos of Winona Fighter and celebrating Honey Revenge's well-earned success, Minneapolis was treated to one heck of a show. When the final bell rang, fans left with sore feet, ringing ears, sweat- soaked shirts, and a few new favorite bands. Safe to say everyone graduated from Summer School with honors.
