Pantera with support from Amon Amarth came to Saratoga Springs NY at the Broadview Stage at SPAC on September 9, 2025. The night was filled with nostalgia and heavy music. Fans of all ages came to rock out and celebrate heavy metal at its finest.
This was my 1st time seeing Amon Amarth, I've been listening to their music for the past few years and I was very excited to see them. I'm a big fan of European Metal and they fit in perfectly with the styles of music that I really enjoy.
They brought in a large stage set, large drum riser, two blow up ancient warriors on each side of the stage plus two viking warriors on stage who had a sword battle during "The Way of Vikings".Â
Through recent years their popularity has been growing greatly - for example the band's newest song "We Rule the Waves" released a month ago has over 2.5 million views and 2002 comments on their Youtube Channel.  Their biggest song to date is: "The Way of Vikings" which has over 29 million views and 8025 comments. Â
I expect that we'll soon be seeing them do a larger headlining tour of the states as they continue to grow in popularity. I know that they won over a lot of new fans while out in this current run with Pantera and their future looks brighter & brighter!Â
Amon Amarth are a Swedish melodic Viking metal band from Tumba, formed in 1992. They've released 12 full length Albums to date so far! I have to believe that the band's next album will be released very soon...
The band consists of three founding members and two newer members:
Johan Hegg on Vocals, Olavi Mikkonen on Lead Guitar and Ted Lundstrom on Bass + recent additions: Johan Soderberg on Rhythm Guitar & Jocke Wallgren on DrumsÂ
Here's the set list:
Guardians of Asgaard
Shield Wall
The Pursuit of Vikings
Deceiver of the Gods
Put Your Back Into the Oar
We Rule the Waves
The Way of Vikings
Raise Your Horns
Twilight of the Thunder God
Pantera finally made their way back after they had to cancel their previous date on July 28th due to Ozzy Osbourne's untimely and shocking death!Â
The crowd of 10,000 or so were definitely ready for them to hit the stage after openers Amon Amarth & King Parrot warmed up the crowd with powerful sets!
They were definitely fired up for this show as the tour is winding down, but they sure didn't show any signs of wanting the tour to end! The gave a brutal performance showing that they are still an insane force in the metal community. Phil's voice was as fierce as ever, Rex still performed up to his legendary status and Zakk and Charlie did an amazing job filling in for their fallen brothers, Dime Bag Darrell and Vinnie Paul.
I saw Pantera a bunch in the late 80's & early 90's - but my last time seeing them was on April 12th 1992. I photographed them on this night, here are photos of Phil and Rex, reliving these memories will never get old.
Pantera while not the original version, held up the torch and gave an all out performance for their fans. Keeping the music alive is what the Abbott brothers would have wanted.
