Music Review: Belle & Chain's "Don't You Worry Babe"— A Compelling Blend of Western Rock, Alt-country, and Introspective Lyrics

If a smooth blend of western rock, alt-country, and textured vocals is what you're after, look no further than Belle & Chain's debut single, "Don't You Worry Babe." Fronted by singer-songwriter Spencer Grammer alongside instrumentalist, songwriter, and vocalist Davis IL, this tune is a compelling blend of dynamic sounds and introspective lyrics set for release April 9, 2026.

This LA-based duo emerged after lead singer Spencer suffered an incident that left her with nerve damage in her right hand. As part of her recovery, she was encouraged to take up the guitar to promote neuroplasticity and rebuild her strength. In the process, Spencer discovered that songwriting and music offered a powerful way to process her trauma, build confidence, and uncover a new path in life. Davis, an accomplished musician himself, met Spencer at his own Halloween party and, impressed with her songwriting, became a co-writer and collaborator, which materialized into Belle & Chain in 2025.

Their debut track transports listeners to a place where Western rock and alt-country blend seamlessly together. "Don't You Worry Babe" opens with a warm, inviting acoustic guitar solo, flowing into a smooth, ear-catching string arrangement that adds depth and mystery to the song. As Spencer's vocals are introduced, they are calm and poignant. Accompanied only by the guitar and strings, it allows for her words to fully resonate with the listener, delivering a message about life, love, and resilience.

A tempo change and introduction of the drums and electric guitar give the listener a sweet taste of the rock side of things. Spencer's voice again complements the change with vocals that are a bit more rugged yet tender at the same time. I enjoyed how the guitar fills throughout seemed to really highlight and emphasize the message of the song, while the overall instrumentals kept me drawn in from start to finish. The song to me is a reminder of how short life is and how we shouldn't get caught up in the small things. While also speaking to one's resilience from a relationship perspective, knowing when it's time to leave a situation and that things will work out in the end.

Belle & Chain have a great new single on their hands, and I am excited to see what they have in store for their listeners next. "Don't You Worry Babe" is streaming everywhere April 9. Belle & Chain are currently on the road touring with Barns Courtney from now until the beginning of May 2026; be sure to check them out!
