Music News: "bombastic" girli to confront the male gaze on new single, out 1.20

Happy 2026! Just wanted to share that we are excited to be back working with the technicolor pop badass from London girli.

Her last album ‘Matriarchy’ was a critical darling with Billboard calling it “absolutely essential” and The Fader praising its “infectiously catchy chaos”, and we are excited to share that on January 20th, girli will release her first track of the new year, “Slap On the Wrist”. Here is a tease of the track.

The track will find the “bombastic” (People Magazine) icon turn a corner stylistically, stripping away some of the candy-coated gloss of her past work, and confronting the male gaze head-on, serving as a direct critique on the gender imbalance still prevalent across the globe. More info to come…
