The air was simply electric on this beautiful Friday evening as the sun dipped behind the city skyline. Outside the iconic Mercury Lounge, fans lined up overjoyed and buzzing with excitement to catch the immensely talented singer-songwriter MARIS take the stage on her MOSH★PIT Tour. New York City marked just about the midpoint of her first 26-city solo headlining run, a celebration of her third EP, MOSH★PIT, released September 18, 2026. Tonight was her second sold-out show at the Mercury Lounge, the latest in a string of sell-out performances along the East Coast. City by city MARIS has been redefining the mosh pit as a safe place where everybody belongs to come as their truest self, and tonight New York City was ready to step in.

Whether we realized it or not, the magic of the MOSH★PIT had begun well before MARIS even took the stage. The opening acts masterfully warmed us up, introduced us to one another, and got us hyped. But who exactly had the power to do all that, you might ask? The answer was right beside us: it was the fans themselves. The night kicked off with the fans taking center stage. Henry, Roxxy Rayne, Emmie, Ari, Elliot, Ashley, and Samantha stepped up one after another to sing karaoke and perform a slew of songs that had the whole room belting lyrics and dancing along, turning a room full of strangers into a crowd united by music.

With the audience fully ignited, the room darkened as a large light in the shape of MARIS’ signature star glowed in bright blue at the back of the stage. Her echoing voice filled the room, welcoming New York City to the show. Andrew Lucas strapped on a pink, sparkly Ibanez electric guitar, while Julian Tiger Lewis took a seat behind a custom drum kit. A power chord and a bone-vibrating bass drum hit at once as the two unleashed an epic intro. The crowd’s cheers rattled the walls of the Mercury Lounge as MARIS burst onto the stage with the biggest smile and an electrifying energy, launching into the EP’s title track, “MOSH★PIT.” The crowd is singing right back. In a black mini skirt and boots, light blue leopard-print tights, and a cut-off tank with the word “F★cker” in red on the front and “Mother” on the back, she dove straight into “Body Is On Fire” and "The Fight." The star over her left eye, edged in black and red, colored in silver, has grown from a small star into a bold vibrant signature, a fitting parallel to the evolution of MARIS as an artist.

MARIS brought absolute joy to the room with her warm, lighthearted personality. She commanded the stage while reminding us that it was a safe space for everyone: be respectful and you'll be respected. She left no part of the stage untouched, locking eyes with fans and smiling, making the entire room feel seen, as if she knew every one of us.  Before “Mary + I," she joked with the audience and tried to blow bubbles from a prop cigarette while a monologue played in the background. Only one bubble floated out, and the whole room cracked up with her.  During the song, she turned the stage into a dance floor, inviting fans to join her as she danced to the infectious tune. Continuing to make sure everyone was included in the night, MARIS had fans FaceTime friends and family during “Missing Me,” reaching for as many phones as she could. Beaming faces danced along on screen as she gave them a front-row view of the show.

MARIS’ voice was exceptionally powerful and warm, with a balance of precision and dynamic expression. Her setlist highlighted the full range of her talents, moving from big, belt-it-out numbers to quieter, more delicate songs that hit just as hard. “Good Bye Forever” was the perfect example. She stepped away from her mic and took her Gibson acoustic guitar into the crowd for an intimate and beautiful moment, the entire room silent, captivated, and smiling.

The night’s most disarming moment came between songs, when MARIS had us close our eyes and tell ourselves, “I love you just the way you f★cking are, b★tch!” It was a little self-love, served out loud. Then she asked us to turn to someone new and do the same, and a room full of people was suddenly looking each other dead in the eye, serving up some more love and meaning it. With new friends in tow, the party continued as we rocked out to “KMS” and “Super F★cking Megast★r,” two mosh pits forming in the crowd. During “Crashland,” MARIS again led the way, encouraging everyone to be themselves without fear of judgment. “Dance like nobody’s watching because everybody loves you, especially me!!” she shouted, dancing around the stage with pure abandon. It was a moment of permission that many of us, myself included, didn’t realize we needed. A simple idea and powerful reminder that it's okay to let loose and exist as we are.

With dancing in full swing and the connection in the room growing stronger by the second, the crowd sang and swayed along as MARIS performed fan favorite "Saltwater Taffy." She delivered a reimagined take on The Killers' "Mr. Brightside" and powered through one of her newer tracks, "Nothing To Do (nananananana)." MARIS took the night back to where it all began, closing with “MOSH★PIT” and “Body Is On Fire” as the crowd screamed, danced, and savored every last moment. If this sold-out second night is any sign, rooms like the Mercury Lounge won’t hold her for long.

By the time the last note had faded, and MARIS took her final bow, the Mercury Lounge felt less like a venue and more like a room full of friends. Throughout this tour, and again tonight, MARIS has truly been redefining what a mosh pit can be: not just a place to lose ourselves in the music, but a community, a safe space where everyone belongs and is free to be exactly who they are. Perhaps the real beauty of the MOSH★PIT is its spirit. It could never be confined to the floor of a venue; it’s a mindset you can carry out the door, something she had been alluding to all along. All we needed was a little permission and a moment looking a stranger in the eye to realize it
