To start off the show, Destiny Rogers was the first person to go on stage. Ahead of the release for the music video to her song “Bitter”, which will be released on May 23, Destiny performed a couple songs off of her new album ‘still your girl.” She worked her way around the stage and eventually sang her song “Tomboy” which most of the crowd recognized. They lit up at the familiar song and Destiny seemed to carry the same confidence on stage that she wrote about in the song “Tomboy.”
Before UPSAHL came on stage, you could feel the excitement in the venue, and when she stepped on, the room erupted. Her energy completely captivated myself and the audience, there wasn’t a single song where I couldn’t pick out someone from the front row smiling and singing with her. Along with her own comfort on stage in front of thousands, her band’s interactions made the performance seem more intimate than it was. Oftentimes, when playing sold out shows, this is hard to achieve, but UPSAHL and the band amped up their energy to give all 2,000 fans an unforgettable experience.
After talking to some fans, I learned that some had been in line all day in the heat just to get front row. While many were at the show to see Madison Beer (who would go on to headline and perform later in the night), there were so many people looking forward to hearing UPSAHL’s hits, such as “People I Don’t Like” and “DRUGS”. Even if these fan favorites weren’t included, she is the type of artist where nobody would have to know the words to become completely enamored by her performance.
The Spinnin Tour will be going across the United States until its close on June 13, 2024 where UPSAHL and Madison Beer will play the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. After this run with Madison Beer, UPSAHL will be going through Europe in August playing festivals and headlining shows throughout the continent. It’s definitely worth taking a look at any shows near you so you can catch UPSAHL before she wraps up this tour, you’re guaranteed a good experience and some new songs added to your summer playlist!
