Concert Review: Knocked Loose and Denzel Curry Ignite Worcester on The Hive Mind Tour
Denzel Curry and Knocked Loose, along with special guests Boundaries and Superheaven, brought The Hive Mind Tour to Worcester’s Palladium Outdoors. The lineup offered impressive variety. Metalcore, grunge, shoegaze, hip-hop, and hardcore all combined to create an unforgettable show.
Starting the night off strong was Boundaries, a metalcore band from Connecticut. They performed songs from their new album, Yearning: The unbeautiful after. They set a heavy tone early, sparking non-stop waves of crowd surfers and one of the largest walls of death I’ve seen from an opening act.
Next up was Superheaven, a grunge/shoegaze band from Pennsylvania. Their distinct sound brought a heavier, atmospheric mood to the evening.
Denzel Curry then shifted the energy once again. His beat-driven, high-energy performance expanded the scope of the night, seamlessly blending hip-hop alongside hardcore and alternative without making the lineup feel disjointed. His set got the crowd completely primed for the final act.
By the time Knocked Loose took the stage, the crowd was ready to explode. Having previously played The Palladium Upstairs in 2017 and downstairs in 2018, the band returned to headline the Outdoors venue. Their abrasive guitars and visceral vocals drove the crowd wild. They brought Matt McDougal, lead vocalist of Boundaries, on stage for "Billy No Mates," and later brought Denzel Curry back out to perform "Hive Mind."
