Flash Review: Dexter and the Moonrocks Single Ritalin

Writer: Tara LakatosTara Lakatos

West Texas "Western Space Grunge" band Dexter and the Moonrocks released hot new single "Ritalin". We've covered a few of their energetic performances recently so they have been on our radar. I was excited to hear "Ritalin" for the first time yesterday. It became a fast, favorite song of 2025.

The song touches upon substance abuse and depression. I'm thankful that more bands are using hard topics as backdrops for their songwriting, especially males, since men's mental health has been a taboo subject for so long. The song touches upon both the use of illicit drugs and the use of prescription medication to help combat mental issues. Along with the message the music is chunky and grungy with a huge guitar driven chorus.

Dexter and the Moonrocks were born from an incredibly diverse group of individuals. A fry cook, an oil field operator, a concrete finisher and a kids baseball coach. They started out as a country band but morphed over time to blend in elements of grunge and rock to produce their unique and personally authentic sound.

Dexter and the Moonrocks have a ton of upcoming tour dates if you want to check out their music and hear their new single "Ritalin" for yourself. They are different in a very crowded space, give the song a spin or 10, you won't be disappointed.
