The Counting Crows and Dashboard Confessional brought their Banshee Season Tour to the Wind Creek Events Center in Bethlehem, PA.
Dashboard Confessional was out supporting their latest release All the Truth That I Can Tell. This album is a triumph and celebration of lead singer, Chris Carrabba's, recovery from a tragic motorcycle accident. He had to learn how to play the guitar all over again. Seeing him on stage last night you would never know he was ever injured. They played an incredible 12 song set that kept the audience rocking the entire time.
The Counting Crows have had my attention since my college days in the '90s. In the era of grunge they brought a different sound, a more light hearted and bright approach during a very gritty time in music. They played for 2 hours, every hit, B-side and super-fan favorite. The band sounded as good or maybe even better than they did 3 decades ago. I was in the pit photographing them and the 3rd song that they played was "Mr. Jones". I was so happy, it was a surreal moment that I had been listening to this song since it came out and now I am photographing the band. I've photographed hundreds of bands before but I am not sure why this band, this song and this moment hit me like a ton of bricks. I walked out of the pit to the back of the venue during "Colorblind", I got the chills from Adam's voice and had some sort of emotional breakdown. In all of my years this has never happened before. So thank you Counting Crows for making my night and everyone else's in the packed house.
