Concert Review: Umphrey’s McGee at The Citizens House of Blues in Boston

On February 12, 2026, Umphrey’s McGee performed two sets at The Citizens House of Blues in Boston as part of their “Sky’s the Limit” tour, drawing tons of fans.

Although a frigid night, the audience was excited to listen to the group composed of Brendan Bayliss (guitar, vocals), Joel Cummins (keyboard, piano, vocals), Ryan Stasik (bass), Andy Farag (Percussion), Jake Cinninger (guitar, vocals), Scotty Zwang (drums).

Established in 1997, Umphrey’s McGee is an American rock band originating from South Bend, Indiana. The group is known for its versatility, incorporating a wide range of musical genres such as progressive rock, progressive metal, funk, jazz, blues, reggae, electronic music, jam sessions, bluegrass, country, and folk into their repertoire.

At the Citizens House of Blues, the group was terrific. They played with a high level of energy and enthusiasm. That made the concert from the beginning to the end a huge success.

Opening with “You Got the Wrong Guy” - that song has been played 57 times at 1.97% at Umphrey’s McGee shows -, they continued the show with “Get in the Van”, “Upward”, “Attachments”. The entertaining song “Loose Ends” shifted the crowd back to dancing in the shoulder-to-shoulder room; segueing into “Blue Echo”, Umphrey’s McGee surprised the crowd with a final list of great songs such as “Spires”, “Rosanna”, “Out of Focus”.

At 10:00 p.m. After the conclusion of the first set, the band took a fifteen-minute intermission. During that time, some people commented on “how great is the show?” It was effectively a wonderful night of music with very high energy and was unifying experience, marked by a powerful, polished performance and strong, emotional, and interactive crowd connection.

At 10:15 p.m. the band returned to the stage executing a list from the catalogue of their most popular songs such as “All in Time”, “The Fussy Dutchman”, “Sister Christian”, “Hurt Bird Bath”, “Women, Wine and Song”, “Cut the Cable”.

At Citizens House of Blues, in Boston, MA, Umphrey’s McGee’s performance was exceptional. The setting, the excited crowd, the dazzling light shows, everything was perfect. As a photographer, I was lucky to be part of that wonderful night of music.

When the crowd energy spikes and the lights are blazing, it can get warm fast, and that subtle shift actually changes how long people stay fully engaged. I’ve worked with venue climate setups before and even experimented at home with a smart wifi controller for AC, and it’s surprising how dialing in airflow and humidity can preserve comfort without killing the vibe. It makes me appreciate venues that manage to keep the room energized but breathable — it’s a behind-the-scenes factor that rarely gets mentioned in concert reviews but absolutely impacts how immersive those long improvisational stretches feel. Great write-up, and it’s cool to see attention to detail that goes beyond just the setlist.
