Concert Review: Tom Keifer Took the Clyde Theatre Once Around the Ride with LA Guns

Friday, July 24th - Fans did not just buy a ticket to a concert. They bought a ticket to 1987 full of hair and massive riffs! L.A. Guns and the Tom Keifer Band packed a production so massive it was a total assault on all senses to a sold-out crowd at the Clyde Theatre in Fort Wayne, IN that left you feeling like you were standing in the middle of Sunset strip blvd.
L.A. Guns, the opening act of the two was hitting on all cylinders from start to finish! They had such an energetic stage presence that kept you locked into them rocking out to every song on their set list. The comradery between Ace Von Johnson and Tracii Guns on stage was very epic as the two of them bounce electric, ripping riffs off of each other resembling pure nostalgia of rock shows in the 80’s that we have all came to love. A slight pause and lights dimmed, Tracii Guns appears in the middle of the stage total backlit all the while ripping a guitar solo so massive it could have filled an arena. From “Sex Action” to “Rip and Tear” L.A. Guns unapologetically churned out one banger after another! It was extremely awesome to see them perform “Over the Edge” which was featured on the “Point Break” film and Soundtrack.
The band’s sound was very tight and together proving that music is not only meant to be heard but should be seen and felt!

They say music takes you back to a specific day in time and Tom Keifer of Cinderella did just that as they took to the stage! From their opening track of “Night Songs” to “Gypsy Road” Tom hit the Clyde Theatre with a shot of gasoline straight from 1987!
His killer songwriting along with his raw bluesy soul, Tom’s raspy vocals made every lyric from every track feel personal. While conversing with the crowd about feeling like a dagger to the heart, decades after its release “Nobody’s Fool” continues to be a favorite of mine and resonates with everyone still to this day! The show did not stop there as the amped-up energy ramped up even higher as you could hear every song lyric being sang aloud by a sold-out crowd.
His heavy guitar sound carried throughout the entire show, but another pure eclectic moment is when Tom plays “Don’t Know What You Got Til It’s Gone” on the piano! I can still remember his epic drop from the rafters while playing this song in 87. That moment still engraved into my memory, even more so now seeing him playing it live again at the Clyde Theatre. Guitarist - Tony Higbee, bassist - Luis Espaillat, drummer - Jarred Pope, keyboardist - Kory Myers, and vocalists - Savannah Keifer and Tanya Davis all contributed enormously to the massive sound and with extreme talent and abilities. Decades late, Tom Keifer has proven once again that he is still the lead vocalist who connects with listeners today!
Both bands didn’t just play their music. They infused the Clyde Theatre with total nostalgia through lighting, power and energy. This was not just any concert. It was a phucking rockin’ roll concert straight from 1987 that kept it loud and rocking the entire evening
