Concert Review: The Gene Simmons Band at the Indiana State Fair

On Thursday, August 20th, 2026, the iconic Gene Simmons, renowned as the God of Thunder, made a highly anticipated appearance at the Indiana State Fair. As the Radioactive Intro reverberated through the stacked Marshall Amps, The Gene Simmons Band, comprising Gene Simmons on bass and vocals, Jason Walker on guitar and vocals, Brian Tichy on drums and vocals, and Brent Woods on guitar, took to the Hoosier Lottery Free Stage at 8pm to launch their extensive 19-track set list.

The Indianapolis audience was treated to a high-energy setlist, featuring iconic hits such as 'Deuce,' 'Shout It out Loud,' and 'Let Me Go, Rock 'n' Roll.' Prior to commencing their next performance, Gene Simmons graciously autographed a Funko Pop figurine tossed on stage by an enthusiastic fan. Gene asked, prompting a medley of snippets from 'Tush,' 'Watchin' You,' 'Yummy Yummy Yummy,' and 'Rock Lobster.'

Notably, KISS never engaged in the practice of inviting fans on stage, whereas the Gene Simmons Band did so on multiple occasions. The first instance was a partial vocal performance of 'Shock Me' with a fan, followed by a second occasion where a fan, Justin, joined on drums for 'Parasite'. Additionally, 'I Love It Loud' was succeeded by Gene's heartfelt gesture of bringing military personnel on stage to express gratitude. The Gene Simmons Band impressively performed a range of KISS hits, covering the entire discography, with standout performances of 'Spit', 'Domino', and 'Fits Like A Glove'.
