Concert Review: Reprise Brings the Ultimate Phish Tribute Experience to Soundcheck Studios

On October 16, 2026, Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, Massachusetts, welcomed Reprise, the best Phish tribute band I have ever seen perform. Their emotion, passion, and musicianship captured the spirit of Phish, the American rock band formed in Burlington, Vermont, in 1983. Known for improvisational jams and a devoted fan base, Phish creates a distinctive live experience, and Reprise delivered the same.

Like Phish, Reprise’s music blends elements from a wide variety of genres, including funk, reggae, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, folk, country, jazz, blues, bluegrass, electronic music, and pop. The group is part of a movement of improvisational rock acts inspired by the format of the Grateful Dead’s live performances and commonly known as “jam bands,” which gained considerable popularity as touring concert acts in the 1990s.

In Pembroke, Reprise was terrific. Their blend of rock, funk, country, bluegrass, electronic, and pop elements created an atmosphere of exultation. From beginning to end, the audience was singing, dancing, and jumping around. The all-star quartet of players from Kung Fu, Twiddle, and Pink Talking Fish has come together to launch this new Phish tribute project, Reprise, which celebrates Phish through faithful recreations of legendary shows. I was entirely caught up in the experience.

The band formed to reprise the Phish experience is composed of accomplished musicians. Cal Kehoe, longtime frontman of Pink Talking Fish, played guitar; Adrian Tramontano (Twiddle, Kung Fu, Mihali, and The Breakfast) mastered the drums; multi-instrumentalist and composer Chris DeAngelis (The Machine, Kung Fu, and The Breakfast) played bass; and Scott Chasolen, a founding member of Ulu and keyboardist for The Machine, a Pink Floyd tribute band, performed on keyboards.

From beginning to end, the show was terrific. Known for their energetic live performances and magical concerts, Reprise was amazing. I have seen them several times, and they are terrific musicians. They are the only Phish-approved tribute band. Their recreation of the shows was sublime, and the music was perfect. The audience embarked on a mystical musical journey with the band, and the melodies roiled through the venue.

Their interpretation differs slightly from the original and, at times, improves upon it. The lights and sound at Soundcheck Studios were perfect, and many concertgoers loved every minute of this fantastic show.

Adrian, the drummer, made the audience laugh when he showed up on stage in a red dress and played guitar while Cal Kehoe played the drums.

For the many fans present at the venue, it was a great night of music!
