Concert Review: The Disco Biscuits at the State Theater in Portland, ME


On July 10, 2026, the State Theatre in Portland, Maine, welcomed The Disco Biscuits for a two-set concert attended by hundreds of fans. It was an exceptional night of music, and the band delivered a phenomenal performance.


Formed in 1995, the group is one of the most popular jam bands in the United States. Embracing modern technology, The Disco Biscuits incorporate elements from a variety of musical genres while maintaining a foundation rooted in electronic and rock music.


Featuring the talented musicians Jon Gutwillig (guitar, vocals), Marc Brownstein (bass, vocals), Aron Magner (keyboards, vocals), and Marlon B. Lewis (drums), The Disco Biscuits delivered a terrific concert experience. Their music flowed seamlessly from one song to the next, drawing listeners into a mystical, trance-like state.


The laser light show further enhanced the immersive atmosphere. Fans throughout the venue sang, danced, and enjoyed every moment of the lively concert, sharing their love of jam band music with one another.


In Portland, the group performed two sets. The first set blended reggae influences with elements of electronic and rock music. This distinctive style is often described as trance fusion.


During the second set, the band performed long, serpentine jams that seemed to have no end. The audience’s ovation at the close of the set clearly demonstrated their appreciation and satisfaction.

It was a fitting way to thank The Disco Biscuits for their inspired performance.


As a jam band, The Disco Biscuits are known for music characterized by extended improvisational passages. They were incredible.
