Concert Review: The Revivalists at Lake Morey Resort

What a beautiful night it was on Thursday, August 13, to listen to one of my favorite bands, The Revivalists. They put on one of the best live shows I have ever seen.

It was a wonderful night of live music.

The weather, the setting, the venue, the audience, the lighting, the sound, and the ambiance, everything was perfect. More than that, it was The Revivalists, my favorite band, who were scheduled to play a terrific free concert at Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee, Vermont.

Lake Morey Resort is a third-generation, family-owned and operated resort nestled in the Vermont hills of the Upper Connecticut River Valley. This well-established resort is situated on a 300-acre estate along the shores of Lake Morey.

For me, it was like a dream. The lakefront setting, surrounded by forests, provided peace of mind in a chaotic world where music can offer a sense of contentment and tranquility, even when times are difficult.

At 8:15 p.m., The Revivalists hit the stage with high energy and powerful vocals from frontman David Shaw. Shaw's connection with the crowd was strong, as usual. It was a truly unique and euphoric experience for many in the audience. People were singing, dancing, eating, and drinking. They joined in on every word of the songs, singing along as one. It was a celebration of faith, family, and community, a moment filled with good vibes, great music, and an opportunity to connect with one another.

The Revivalists fuse roots-rock energy with New Orleans jazz-funk grooves, layering soul, folk, and pop to create a genre-blurring sound built on horns, pedal steel guitar, and powerhouse rhythms. Known for their improvisational live shows and uplifting anthems, they have sustained broad appeal through their authenticity and strong sense of community.

They performed fan favorites such as "Good Old Days," "All My Friends," "Soulfight," "It Was a Sin," and "Wish I Knew You," while also incorporating newer material from their album Pour It Out Into the Night.

The eight-piece band consists of Ed Williams (pedal steel guitar, guitar), David Shaw (lead vocals), Zack Feinberg (guitar), Rob Ingraham (saxophone), George Gekas (bass guitar), Andrew Campanelli (drums and percussion), Michael Girardot (keyboards and trumpet), and PJ Howard (drums and percussion).

The free concert performed by The Revivalists at Lake Morey Resort in Vermont was exceptional.

The audience loved every minute of this incredible show.
