About Lord Huron's Tour/Album:
Whenever artists put thought into their stage design and stage presence, you know how much thought was put into their music and into the fans. This tour was a result of the release of their 5th studio album “The Cosmic Selector Vol. 1” which explores themes of nostalgia, heartbreak, regret, and past decisions. The Cosmic Selector Tour was a visually pleasing and vibrant live performance that made people move all night long. You may know Lord Huron as an American indie rock, folk pop band who is most known for their song “The Night We Met” which was featured on a Netflix series called “13 Reasons Why” which gained almost 4 billion streams on Spotify!
Visuals, Jukebox, and the Payphone:
Lord Huron's Cosmic Selector Tour had a massive smoke-filled backdrop that transported the band into hot deserts and dark foggy cold forests throughout the show. The band was spread out on the stage with two major props that were put on the spotlight for the show. The first was a spotlight on a huge jukebox on the right side of the stage that symbolized the album "The Cosmic Selector Vol.1" which depicted themes of fate, choice, regret and communication across parallel dimensions in the band's lore. The second was a lone red payphone in the center of the stage where Schneider would speak on the phone. We could hear him speak in a filtered voice where he would could call out to a lost place in an alternate plane of existence where he would talk to characters who answered his call to give him cryptic but important warnings throughout the show. But at the end of the show, he ended up reaching out to a figure who he couldn't quite reach until they faded back into the darkness.
August Ponthier:
August Ponthier, a Texas Born nonbinary singer/songwriter, set the mood for the show with their calming voice and vibrant stage presence. August is also featured as a vocalist on Lord Huron's 2022 album "Long Lost" on the song "I Lied." Which was performed live towards the end of Lord Huron's set.
Sold out show:
This was Lord Huron's 4th time performing in Atlanta with a fully sold-out show at the Coca-Cola Roxy. The entire night I watched couples, friends, and family dance and sing the night away in the starry smoke-filled venue.
Interview:
I asked the crowd a few questions about what they are looking forward to during this set. A few people said it was their first time seeing Lord Huron, and others have seen them from over 6 to 14 times live! From local shows to out-of-state road trips, fans love the shows they have created. Most fans I have talked to have also been listening to their music since 2019 and all the way through covid and beyond.
Overall thoughts:
Overall, I think this show was a highlight of my year with one of the most visually pleasing shows of the year! It also was a plus that the community is super welcoming and kind so anyone can join in and have fun!
