Concert Review: Nonpoint with Sumo Cyco and SOiL at Club LA in Destin, FL

Nonpoint hit up Club LA in Destin, FL on Sunday, April 26th, 2026 with SOiL and Sumo Cyco.  Upon arrival, the line was already forming down the side of the building.  Fans stood outside ready with anticipation to let loose for the Outta Control tour.

Sumo Cyco, fronted by Skye Sweetnam had some off the charts energy.  Hailing from Canada, the alt/metal band showed up and showed off!  Skye and the band were very engaging with the fans.  Her vocals range from sweet and poppy to heavy punk/metal screams.  The crowd ate it right up.  At one point, she jumped into the crowd and ran around antagonizing fans and raising the energy even higher.  Matt Drake on guitar was a ham for the cam and a master on the strings.  Oscar slapped some serious bass and kicked ass.  Joey absolutely laid a smackdown on the drums.  When their set was over, they came out into the crowd/venue to interact and show appreciation to their fans.  This is something they are known to do, and it is so fun and important for bands to do this.

SOiL came out next, taking us down memory lane and properly transplanting us to the height of the 2000’s nu metal scene.  Immediately, it was comforting to the ears.  The setlist was full of Scars era songs that felt reminiscent.  Ryan McCombs has that gritty rocker voice and hearing the band live was honestly a rush of emotion that takes you to a place you don’t want to leave.  The American alt/metal band was formed in Chicago in 1997.  In 2004 Ryan left the band and became the new vocalist for Drowning Pool.  He came back to SOiL in 2011.  Members have changed throughout the years, but the SOiL sound was unaltered for this show.  Currently the members are Ryan, Adam (guitar), Tim (bass and backing vocals), and TJ (drums).

By now, the crowd was hyped, hoppin’ and headbangin’ and ready for Nonpoint, who immediately came out fully loaded blasting even more nostalgia out to their fans. They kept the energy going and encouraged the pit to open up a couple times.  They performed hits like “Bullet with a Name,” “What a Day,” and a fun cover of “In The Air Tonight” by Phil Collins that had the whole place singing along.  Frontman and vocalist Elias Soriano was incredibly engaging with the crowd.  Robb on the drums set the beat that had one particular man in the front table section pumping his fist the entire time.  Adam and Rasheed on guitars were jumping and whippin’ hair around and absolutely slayed.  Jaysin on the bass was truly phenomenal to watch.

There was absolutely zero chill, in fact it was absolutely smoldering hot and totally outta control.  Definitely check out the remaining tour dates left and catch a show near you.  If you love purely nostalgic nu metal from your formative years, and love an intimate venue, this is the tour for you.
