Concert Review: Moon Taxi with Aldous Collins Band at Royale Boston

December 19, 2025, at Royale Boston located at 279 Tremont Street, Boston, MA. The Janezic Foundation has one mission: deliver access to music education for kids of all backgrounds across Massachusetts. It was an incredible night of live music that brought purpose and passion together.

Personally, as a live music photographer, it was more than a concert. It was an experience: live rhythms, high energy, and doing good work, while you groove.

The show started at 8:00 p.m. with the Aldous Collins Band as the opener. Based on the South Shore of Massachusetts, the Aldous Collins has shared the stage with several high-profile artists and was very successful with bands such as The Elevators, Grace Potter, Toots and the Maytals, Phillip Phillips, G Love, Tyler Hubbard, Glove Special Sauce, and many more.

Describing their sound as "indie funk", the band's mixture of indie, rock, reggae, and soul has their songs reflecting on daily life and focusing on hope and good vibes.

Whether performing in New Hampshire or any part of New England, one thing is for sure - the Aldous Collins Band knows how to create a great night of music with energetic songs like "Superfunky" and "Get on Up". At Royale Boston, the band was more than good. The musicians were great. Aldous Collins (guitar/vocals), Luke Brech (drums), Michael Rahman (guitar/ vocals), Kevin Hennessey (keys/vocals), Kyle Ahola (bass).

At 9:30 p.m. Moon Taxi hit the stage. The Americana alternative rock band based in Nashville, Tennessee played a terrific show at Royale Boston. Fans were dancing, singing, drinking... Everyone's emotions were high, and their set was terrific.  Everyone loved their lyric versions of Jam band music and were vocal with their appreciation of the band.

Founded in 2006 by Trevor Terndrup (vocals/guitar), Tommy Putman (bass), Spencer Thomson (guitar, programming), Tyler Ritter (drums), and Wes Bailey (keys) while attending Belmont University, Moon Taxi has released six studio albums: Melodica, Cabaret, Mountains Beaches Cities, Daybreaker, Let the Record Play, and Silver Dream.

Moon Taxi has appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, Conan, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and most recently Jimmy Kimmel Live. The band has participated in many summer festivals such as The Hangout Music and Arts Festival (Gulf Shores, Alabama) in 2010 and 2011, Wakarusa in Ozark, Arkansas in 2011, as well as a nationwide tour in 2010 that took the band from Maine to California. The group won the inaugural Music City Mayhem Contest for "Common Ground", which awarded them several songs in brief rotation on Nashville's WRLT Lightning 100.1 FM.

During their touring schedule in support of Live Ride, Moon Taxi opened for Gov't Mule, Umphrey's McGee, Matisyahu, and The New Mastersounds.

At Royale Boston, Moon Taxi played a list of great songs such as Barefoot, Lay Low, Too High, etc.

Commenting on the live show I would say: The lighting, the enthusiasm of the crowd, the songs, the sound ...it was an exceptional night of music. Like many of the hundreds of fans at the concert, I had a wonderful time and hope Moon Taxi is coming back to Boston soon.
