Updated: 1 day ago

On October 30, 2025, Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, MA, welcomed Mighty Mystic. Formed in 1998, Kevin Mark Holness better known as Mighty Mystic is the front man of the group.

A Jamaican-born, Somerville, Massachusetts-based reggae artist, Holness moved to Boston at the age of nine with his family. Singer-songwriter, record producer, he began performing as Mighty Mystic at a very young age. His 2006 single "Riding on the Clouds" received a large acclamation from the public. His debut album "Wake Up the World" (2010) included "Revolution", "Riding on the Clouds", "Original Love", and "Slipped Away", with appearances from Shaggy and roots rocker Lutan Fyah, had given him recognition worldwide.

The Jamaica Observer, a daily newspaper published in Kingston, Jamaica, nominated him as one of the best reggae artists on the planet. The same opinion has been shared by the Gleaner, Jamaica's oldest daily newspaper.

Mighty Mystic performed an unforgettable night of reggae music at Soundcheck Studios. Holness took the opportunity to promote his powerful new album "Walk Tall."

With six albums that have all rocketed to the Billboard Top Ten Reggae chart and stages shared with icons like Sean Paul, The Wailers, Shaggy, and the Marleys, Kelvin Holness - aka Mighty Mystic - is a force in the global reggae scene. His album "Waled Tall" released in 2025 cemented his place as one of roots reggae's great lyrical storytellers.

Considered one of the leaders in the US reggae movement, Mighty Mystic took the opportunity at Soundcheck Studios to inform the audience about hurricane Mellisa that struck Jamaica's southwestern coast as a catastrophic category 5 storm with 185 mph winds, causing widespread destruction in St Elizabeth, the place where he was born and where his father actually lives.

During a break, the artist took time to present the costume contest organized for this occasion. Participation involves dressing up and presenting your costume to the audience who chose the winner. With all that being said, it was an exceptional night of reggae music.
