Concert Review: Harvey Street Wows at New World Music Hall in Tampa, Florida

It’s Friday night at the corner of Busch Blvd and Nebraska Ave, and New World Music Hall is already buzzing. Though this is the newest spot for New World, they've been showcasing incredible talent on their stages for upwards of 23 years—and tonight is no exception. Harvey Street is set to rock the stage on their Down and Out Tour, bringing their infectious sound and high-energy performances to Tampa Bay.

But who is Harvey Street, you might ask? Harvey Street is an exciting five-member band from Raleigh, North Carolina. Known for their undeniably ear-catching indie and alternative rock sound paired with heartfelt lyrics. They have made quite the name for themselves, building an ever-growing fan base by touring tirelessly and igniting every stage they step on. They have toured with the likes of Flipturn, The Stews, and Penelope Road, to name a few. Harvey Street has released a handful of singles along the way, and in May of 2025, they dropped their eleven-track debut album, Great Escape. "Irish Escape" and "Free Myself" from this particular project have accumulated over 4.5 million streams collectively thus far. On March 6, 2026, they released their newest EP, Insomnia. With songs from this fresh release, I’m excited to see what Harvey Street will bring to New World tonight.

Diving right into the musical lineup for the evening is the band Bad Cameo. A local Tampa Bay trio that delivers an awesome and refreshing blend of funk and indie sound to the stage. Lando Pieroni guides the crowd through their setlist with his vibrant and soulful vocals while playing a sweet D'Angelico guitar. Holding it down on the keys and bassline is Geoff Weber, while Dan Mead keeps a solid foundation on the drums. Together, Bad Cameo delivers a killer vibe and tight musicianship, keeping the crowd locked in with tracks like "Pink Leather" and "Swamp Dr."

Hailing from Miami, Florida, the band Buko Boys picks up right where Bad Cameo leaves off, carrying the energy forward. Their sound is a vibrant fusion of indie, rock, and R&B. Raquel Lily and Andy Gil share vocal duties while rocking out on electric and bass guitars, respectively. Martin Castor, producer, brings a clean sound to the keys and guitar, while DiAngelo Gonzalez keeps the beat tight and dynamic on the drums. In June of 2025 they released their self-produced debut LP Float and, most recently, their single "Awake." They leave a lasting impression on the audience.

The Friday night crowd is amped as the lights fade to darkness as a catchy tune fills the room. Harvey Street are all smiles as they dance their way onto the stage. Jermone Bermudez takes to center stage with a light green Fender Telecaster guitar, wasting no time delighting everyone's eardrums with the song "Long Term Memory." His voice is a smooth blend of soulful tones and raw grit. To his right, Jackson Reed rips on a Paul Reed Smith guitar, playing killer riffs on tracks like "Down and Out." Harvey Street weaves through a setlist that spans their EP, album, and singles. Eric Kronschnabel layers in texture on a Nord Electro keyboard, while Josh Burgess anchors the sound with his unshakable beat. On a red Fender bass guitar, Finn Ulrich drives a solid rhythmic bass line, adding depth to their overall sound.

Together as one, Harvey Street brings such a magnetic energy to all parts of the stage as the crowd sings and dances along to every note they play. Whether it is interacting with one another or the crowd, it's undeniable they are having the best time, evident with the gigantic smiles on their faces. Songs like "Betty" and "Malibu" are sonic treats that truly showcase their clean, polished sounds while keeping the crowd captivated. It’s refreshing to see each member step into the spotlight throughout the night, showcasing the vital role each plays in the band’s sound. As the night winds down, Harvey Street closes with "I'm Your Line." But just when you think the last notes have faded throughout New World, they perform a masterful rendition of Bill Withers' legendary track "Ain't No Sunshine," leaving the crowd truly awestruck and wanting even more.

Harvey Street’s performance tonight solidifies that their trajectory is only headed upward, delivering a night packed with multi-genre sound, emotionally driven lyrics, and electrifying stage presence. They show no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Harvey Street is slated to head straight into their Talk It Out Tour after this Southeast run, beginning in May and cutting across the U.S. throughout the summer. So do yourself a favor—if you have the chance, check these guys out in person; you won’t regret it.
