On Friday February 27th 2026, legendary guitarist George Lynch brought his Mr. Scary Mini Tour to Empire Live in Albany NY for a night full of rocking music and guitar solos. It was a full evening of music with several opening acts. "That Metal Show" comedians Jim Florentine & Don Jamieson performed a few minutes of metal comedy before introducing each band.
Noteable openers DAZR from Greenville South Carolina, performed a killer opening set of high energy rock. I honestly didn't get a chance to pre listen to them before the show but I was very impressed with them - here's an online quote: "DAZR is a 4-piece powerhouse rock band that blends raw energy with experienced musicianship." "Gritty guitar riffs, thunderous drums, and soaring vocals leave an audience wanting more." I totally agree with this statement, if you get a chance definitely check these guys out!
Up next was the long-time band Trixter featuring long time members PJ Farley and Steve Brown. They played a high energy set, including their hits and some harder rock songs early on. The packed crowd enjoyed their set but eagerly awaited for Lynch Mob to take the stage.
George Lynch took the stage with his band performing a run through of his classics from Lynch Mob. Opening with "Sweet Sister Mercy", "River of Love", "For a Million Years w/ a great extened guitar solo", up next was "Hell Child", Testify with another extened guitar solo", "Street Fightin' Man" and ending with "Wicked Sensation". He took a short break before returning with a different group of guys to perform some of the Dokken Hits. Honestly I didn't know what was going on, he was joined with a group of younger musicians. Apparently this part was a 3 night only thing, usualy his current touring Lynch Mob band would mix in Dokken songs as well... The highlight of this odd ending set was when "Plush" singer and local hometown artist Moriah Formica stepped in to sing a killer version of "Dream Warriors". That live video has received a lot of attention on her socials.
