Concert Review: Ekoh- The Broken Heart Collector Tour Minneapolis, Minnesota

A sold-out crowd packed into Minneapolis’ 7th Street Entry on December 13 for Ekoh’s Broken Heart Collector Tour, turning the already small venue into an intensely intimate space where every lyric, beat, and emotion felt amplified. With barely any distance between artist and audience, the night unfolded less like a typical concert and more like a shared emotional experience.

7th Street Entry’s compact size worked perfectly for the tone of the evening. The sold-out room pulsed with anticipation, bodies packed shoulder to shoulder, creating an atmosphere where the crowd fed directly off the performers’ energy. The closeness made every moment feel personal.

Arankai’s Unforgettable Opening Set

Despite being visibly sick, Arankai pushed through their set with remarkable strength and sincerity, delivering an emotional performance that deeply resonated with the crowd.

The most powerful moment of the night came during “Second Sight.” Before the song began, vocalist Oscar shared an emotional reflection on his journey with mental health, finding God, and discovering the love of his life. As the song started, someone in the crowd raised a sign reading, “Your guiding light has given us lost souls a home.”

Almost instantly, the audience lifted fake candle lights, waving them back and forth in unison. Arankai broke down in tears on stage, with the audience not far behind. For a few minutes, nothing else existed outside of that shared vulnerability. It was raw, genuine, and unforgettable.

Ekoh Takes the Stage

Before Ekoh took the stage, we were greeted by DJ Kode Break, who got the energy pumping with a remix of “Can You Feel My Heart” by Bring Me the Horizon. Energy levels were high and ready, and this led right into the first song of the set, “Pressure”.  The energy shifted into something louder and more explosive, without losing the emotional weight established earlier in the night. Known for blending hard-hitting hip-hop with deep personal lyricism, Ekoh commanded the stage with confidence while still maintaining a close connection with the audience.

One of the night’s standout moments came when Ekoh brought a fan on stage to perform “Nobody Like Me”, alongside him. After the song ended he said, “She said she knew all the words, so I needed her to prove it”. In which she absolutely proved it, not a word was missed.

As we move into the last song of the night, something happened that I personally wasn’t expecting. I wasn’t super familiar with Ekoh's music or performance, but this finale is one of the most unique things I’ve seen at a concert. He introduces this song as a song he wrote about how Vans are “better than Kanye West shoes” and told the crowd to throw their vans on the stage and he will sign every single one. He continued to perform the final song, and fans began throwing their Vans shoes onto the stage. His tour manager Ian, and DJ Kode Break had arms full of shoes for Ekoh to sign and throw back to the crowd. An unexpected but fitting end to the night.

Final Thoughts

The Broken Heart Collector Tour stop at 7th Street Entry was more than just a concert; it was a shared emotional release. Between Arankai’s tear-filled connection with the crowd and Ekoh’s fan-focused performance style, the show proved how powerful live music can be when artists and audiences meet each other with honesty. In a venue as small and intimate as 7th Street Entry, every moment mattered, and this night delivered plenty worth remembering.
