CONCERT REVIEW: DEVON ALLMAN'S BLUES SUMMIT

On 23 August 2025, The Devon Allman Project landed at Nashua Center for the Arts in Nashua, N.H. It was an unforgettable night of soul-stirring music featuring the talented guitarist Devon Allman at the helm, the legendary Jimmy Hall of Wet Willie and Jeff Beck fame, who is renowned for his fiery harmonica and powerful vocals. Others in the all-star lineup included the blues icon Larry Mc Cray weaving his masterful guitar riffs and heartfelt stories that have resonated with fans worldwide; and the New Orlean's very own soul sensation, Sierra Green, whose enchanting voice encapsulates the heart and spirit of the Crescent City.


The show started at 8:00 p.m. with Ghalia Volt as the opener. Born in Brussels, Belgium,the Belgian blues rock, guitarist, drummer and songwriter was phenomenal on stage in Nashua, N.H. A very talented artist, Volt has been involved in the release of five albums since 2016, including Mississippi Blend (2019) released on Ruf Records. The album peaked at number three on the Billboard Top Blues Albums Chart. Other Volt's albums included "Have You Seen My Woman" (2016), "Let the Demons Out" (2017), Mississippi Blend (2019), "One Woman Band" (2021), "Jam in the Van (2021), "Shout Sister Shout" (2023).



At 9:30 p.m. Devon Allman and his band hit the stage. The flexible ensemble, led by Devon Allman (guitar, vocals), featured John Lum (drummer), Justin Corgan (bass), guitarist Jackson Stokes, and keyboardist John Ginty.


The music was great. The group was phenomenal. At Nashua Center for the Arts, Devon captivated the audience with his skillful guitar playing and his extraordinary voice. As the son of the legendary Gregg Allman, the leader of the Allman Brothers Band, a group that played a pivotal role in shaping the Southern rock and blues sound, Devon got plenty of love and admiration during the entire night of his performance.


Next to Devon on stage, Jimmy Hall left an indelible mark on the hearts of several hundreds of fans present at the concert. With his fiery harmonica playing and powerful emotive vocals, Hall's dynamic stage presence and deep-rooted connection to the Southern sound gained him a great popularity among the entire audience.


Adding to the list of guest artists, Larry Mc Cray is one of the favorite artists performing during the night. Emerging onto the scene in the late 1980s, Mc Cray gained attention for his blend of contemporary blues, rock, and soul influences. He is the first artist to record the song "Soul Shine", penned by legendary musician Warren Haynes. With a career spanning over three decades,

Larry Mc Cray remains a vital force in contemporary blues music.


Born and raised in New Orleans, Sierra Green completed the list of musicians on stage for the Devon Allman Blues Summit in Nashua, N.H. Known for her dynamic range and commanding stage presence, Green is a member of the Giants band. She is renowned for delivering high energy performances that blend elements of funk, soul and classic R&B. Her voice echoes the spirit of greats like  Aretha Franklin and Etta James.


Together, the group presented an epic night of music for the joy of a selective audience who didn't miss this unique opportunity to experience the raw energy and profound emotion of the Devon Allman Blues Summit, where extraordinary talent meets the timeless magic of blues and soul.
