On April 23rd, I made the short one hour drive to Buffalo Riverworks to cover the Asking Alexandria and From Ashes to New show! This was the first night of a spring tour for the two groups along with Royale Lynn and What Lies Below supporting! The Buffalo crowd at Riverworks was hyped, along with some chants of the “Shout” song breaking out proving you're at a Buffalo metal show! We kicked off the evening with What Lies Below!
What Lies Below is a core band based out of Harrisburg, PA. This was my first time seeing What Lies Below live, and they absolutely killed it! Their most recent album titled “Darker Colors” came out July of 2024 and most recently, have a new single called “The Silence We Keep.” All of which is getting added to my regular rotation of music and looking forward to seeing them again soon! They all had amazing energy on stage which translated very well to keep the crowd pumped up and ready for the rest of the night ahead.
Next up, Royale Lynn took the stage! I have heard Royale Lynn before on Octane and they exceeded my expectations with their live performance! Based out of Michigan, Royale Lynn got the crowd hyped with her clean vocals and mix of rock and alternative music. Their song “Death Wish" had everyone cheering and wanting more! Royale Lynn is preparing to release their new album titled “Black Magic” and that is dropping June 27th, make sure to check them out!
Now onto From Ashes to New, based out of Lancaster, PA, with their most recent release being the deluxe version of their album “Blackout.” If you’ve never heard of or listened to From Ashes to New, you need to change that! Some of their most popular songs include “Hate Me Too,” “Panic,” and “Barely Breathing.” This was my first time seeing From Ashes to New as well. The band’s rap-rock style definitely sets them apart and their well thought out lyrics gives each song its own identity and message.
Asking Alexandria took the stage ready to end the night off with a set full of newer songs and some old favorites from the past. Asking Alexandria is a band I grew up on and I’m sure I’m not the only one to say that. Hearing “The Final Episode (Let’s Change the Channel)” and “Don’t Pray for Me” live definitely brought some nostalgic vibes to the night. Asking Alexandria will be on this run till May 14th including playing Sonic Temple on the 11th. After that they will be playing at Welcome to Rockville 2025 and then Warped Tour in D.C. and Long Beach! My first time seeing Asking Alexandria was at Warped Tour! The crowd was hyped and moving the entire time, Asking Alexandria put on one hell of a show for the Buffalo crowd that night!
