Concert Review: Sex Pistols Perform at Royal Boston with Support from Bad Nerves
On September 28, 2026, Sex Pistols performed at Royal Boston. Bad Nerves opened the show, which was part of a larger tour featuring the Sex Pistols and Frank Carter, showcasing a mix of punk rock talent.
A five-piece power pop and punk rock band from Essex, London, Bad Nerves consists of Bobby Nerves (Bobby Bird, lead vocals), William Phillipson (Will Power, guitar), George Berry (guitar), Jonathan Poulton (bass), and Samuel Thompson (drums). Over the course of their thirty-minute set, they played ferociously fast, distorted pop songs. Their energetic performance won over the majority of fans at the venue.
Lead singer Bobby Nerves led the band with a clean, bright, and distinctive tone that created an intimate vibe. Their set included songs such as "Baby Drummer," "Don't Stop," "Network," "USA," "Radio Punk," "Antidote," and more.
The Sex Pistols followed, walking on stage to resounding cheers and applause. The English punk rock band, formed in London in 1975, is composed of Steve Jones (guitar), Paul Cook (drums), Glen Matlock (bass), and guest vocalist Frank Carter.
The band opened with "Holidays in the Sun," where Carter tried to match the intensity of Johnny Rotten, the Sex Pistols' original lead singer from 1975 to 1978, who also reunited with the band for various revivals during the 1990s and 2000s. They continued with "Seventeen," "New York," "Pretty Vacant," "Bodies," and more.
After a short break, the Sex Pistols returned to the stage and played a selection of songs that earned even more love and appreciation from the audience, including "Liar," "God Save the Queen," "No Feelings," and "Problems." Before performing "Problems," Frank Carter called it the best Pistols song.
The Sex Pistols are widely regarded as one of the most influential bands in popular music history. They directly inspired the style of many punk and post-punk bands, including The Clash and Siouxsie and the Banshees.
With Carter fronting the band, the Sex Pistols put on a fantastic show for the hundreds of fans gathered at Royal Boston. Reviewing their performance, there is no other way to describe the Sex Pistols featuring Frank Carter: they remain one of the greatest punk rock bands in the history of rock music.
