Music Review: Social Distortion Unleash New Single "Born to Kill"

Social Distortion released its first new music in 15 years. “Bork to Kill” the lead single off of the new album also called Born to Kill slated to be released on May 8th, 2026.

At times it seemed like this song and album were never going to be officially released. Born to Kill is actually a song the band has played live going back as early as 2018, but it was well worth the wait to have it officially released.

Social D is not reinventing the wheel or trying to be something they are not with this track.

This is One Hundred Percent classic Social Distortion. This song could have fit perfectly as an extra track on Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes or going further back to really any of the previous albums. If you are looking for the new groundbreaking trendy sound this is not it and to me that's what I love.

Born to Kill is like putting on your favorite T shirt and jeans that you have had for years. Sure, the colors have faded over time but there is no arguing the comfort, it just fits. Born to Kill just fits. It’s what happens when you blend a little bit of blues, rock, and country and you send it out to Orange County to age. It blends into Rock n’ Roll perfection.

If you were never a fan of Social Distortion is this the track that is magically going to turn you into a fan…probably not. But if you are a fan of Social Distortion like I am, this is the perfect appetizer, teasing you for that full album and better yet upcoming tour!
