Concert Review: Holding Absence and Arm's Length Deliver an Emotional Sold-Out Night of Live Music

House & Home, an alternative pop-punk band from Virginia, started out the night.

Bloom, a melodic hardcore band from Sydney, Australia, was up next.

Canadian emo band Arm’s Length brought the emotional vulnerability of modern emo to the stage. Their balance of introspective lyrics and powerful instrumentation made for a compelling performance. Their last album, There’s A Whole World Out There, released in 2025, was one of my favorites of that year.

Holding Absence, a post-hardcore band from Cardiff, Wales, recently released their new album, Modern Life Is Lonely, on September 18, 2026. Their new record expands upon their dramatic sound with added electronic elements.

Overall, it was an unforgettable night of energy and emotion. The sold-out show was packed wall-to-wall. The small venue quickly became hot and sweaty, creating an intimate atmosphere where the energy of the crowd and the intensity of the performances felt inseparable. The contrasting sounds of the mixed-genre bill worked well. Arm’s Length and Holding Absence made for a compelling co-headlining combination, while House & Home and Bloom helped round out a memorable night of live music.
