Corey Taylor is rock and roll's busiest man. He's been busy touring with Slipknot and writing and recording his second solo album, CMF2 which is slated to be released on September 15th. He also just announced a run of solo, headlining shows beginning in late August. Love him or hate him, his new single "Beyond" is a banger. Will his Slipknot fans love it, maybe not, will his Stone Sour and solo fans love it, absolutely yes.
"Beyond" is a melodic love song dripping with a classic rock and roll sound. I absolutely love the guitar riff's from beginning to the end, they aren't flashy but they are super catchy. Of course Corey's vocals are stellar. The fact that he can flip a switch from his Slipknot vocal style to a tradition rock vocal is amazing. He does it effortlessly. They lyrics are definitely a nod to the love for his wife Alicia. My favorite is the second verse, "All I wanted was a dream come true, all I wanted was a woman like you, with a fire in your heart, smoke in your eyes, all I wanted was a place for you and I".
I cannot wait for the rest of this album to be released. I have a feeling that it's going to be a great one.
