On June 12, 2026, Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord, NH, welcomed the Wood Brothers. The show was part of their 2026 North American Tour in support of their latest album, Puff of Smoke. The group was also celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut album, Ways Not to Lose. It was an exceptional night of music. The audience of devoted followers was in love of the performance.
Opening for The Wood brothers was Viv & Riley an acoustical duo from Durham NC and they were great. Rooted originally in the folk tradition, Gifted songwriters and multi-instrumentalists, Vivian Leva and Riley Calcagno.
At 9:00 p.m. the Wood Brothers as the headliner came on stage. Made up of brothers Oliver Wood and Chris Wood, along with multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix, the trio performed a terrific show.
Chris (upright bass) and Oliver (acoustic and electric guitar), as well as multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix put the Wood Brothers music at another level. Watching the group play together is fascinating. As a fan of live music who has participated at hundreds and hundreds of music events, I’ve seen a lot of trios, but I’ve never seen so much music come out of three musicians.

The American roots band played their music with brio. It was a combination of folk, gospel, blues and jazz. The audience, most of them from the generation “Baby Boomers”, was so excited to listen and dance once again the songs of that emblematic trio. They have a large catalogue of music and if you close your eyes, you will think it is a large band playing. They are just incredible.
Formed in 2004 in New York City, the Wood Brothers released their first album, Ways Not to Lose, in 2006. In 2019, the band’s One Drop of Truth received a Grammy nomination for Best Americana Album.
