Concert Review: “WHAT A NIGHT at Rooftop at Pier 17” with 311 and Badflower!

On June 29th, Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City hosted a remarkable evening as 311's Unity Tour 2025 celebrated the 30th anniversary of their legendary Blue Album. Attending my first 311 concert was an unforgettable experience, and I only wish I hadn’t waited so long to see them live.

The evening began with Sitting on Saturn, although I unfortunately missed this opening performance due to traffic delays.

Next, the Los Angeles rock band Badflower took the stage, delivering a compelling show that artfully combined raw emotion with a commanding stage presence. Frontman Josh Katz captivated the audience with his powerful vocals, while the band energized the crowd with standout tracks like “No Place Like Home” and “Ghost.” Their exhilarating rendition of “Detroit” left the audience buzzing with excitement.

When 311 finally took the stage, the crowd erupted in applause as frontman Nick Hexum and the band launched into their set with “Beautiful Disaster” and “Freeze Time,” instantly transporting long-time fans back to the ’90s. They kept the energy high with cherished Blue Album classics such as “Don’t Stay Home” and “Random,” while also introducing newer songs like “You’re Gonna Get It” and “Need Somebody” from Full Bloom.

Throughout the performance, 311 displayed the lasting appeal of their unique blend of rock, reggae, and hip-hop. Iconic tracks like “Do You Right,” “Flowing,” and “Freak Out” ignited massive sing-alongs, as Hexum and SA Martinez seamlessly exchanged vocal lines. As the night reached an exhilarating conclusion, the iconic opening chords of “Down” sparked a final euphoric celebration atop the rooftop.

The performance showcased numerous highlights from their Blue album, alongside some beloved classics. The whole experience from start to finish was very enjoyable, and 311 put on an amazing show, leaving me wanting more. These musicians continue to deliver incredible performances, demonstrating their mastery and professionalism after all these years.I would highly recommend checking out, and if you ever get the chance to see them live I would definitely capitalize on the opportunity. 311 is a show you won’t want to miss out on.
