CONCERT REVIEW: ThxSoMch AND RE6CE AT MIDDLE EAST RESTAURANT

On October 24, 2025, at downstairs Middle East Restaurant and Club located at Central Square, Cambridge, MA, performed UK artist Reece Downs – better known as re6ce -, and the Toronto-based punk artist Carter de Filippis. After releasing his debut album, The Sound of You Laughing, the Canadian artist brought his North America tour to Boston.

Taking the stage with his guitar, backing tracks, Reece Downs pleased the audience with a super-infectious arsenal of emotionally raw songs. Opening with psylocibin mind, re6ce continued with several high-intensity beats such as Don’t Wanna Do, This Anymore and Zombie followed.

Toward the end, re6ce delivered a terrific performance that enjoyed hundreds of fans who stood up in front of the stage to listen to his music. The song “I swear I’ll be alright” reasoned out like a promise made by the artist with conviction and dedication.

The 20-year-old Liverpool singer and multi-instrumentalist is a symbol of the wide cast of young, DIY-centric Internet musicians. Self-taught, re6ce is a student of the modern Internet music game.

Playing with high-intensity during the entire set, re6ce charmed the audience with his charisma and his presence on stage.

As soon as he finished performing the two first songs, rapidly he had the entire crowd’s attention. He sprinted across the stage, moved at each corner to make sure everyone in the venue was included.  The atmosphere was electric. The excitement from the people was visible. It was a terrific night of music.

In front of an audience crazy for his musical style, which has been described as “urgent” and full “of sonic dissonance”, ThxSoMch performed a list of songs from his large repertoire.

Although playing a very short set, ThxSoMch’s performance was terrific. It is easy to understand why his music resonates so deeply in the hearts of so many fans from the young generation.
