The Flowers tour came blooming into Jacksonville, Florida near the end of The Devil Wears Prada’s headline tour supporting the release of their latest album “Flowers” at the end of last year bringing along Four Year Strong, Split Chain, and I Promised the World.
Opening the show was I Promised the World who reminded me a lot of early years Prada and almost like now dissolved band SeeYouSpaceCowboy. Going into the show I had never listened to any of their music but by the end of the set I was hooked, between the breakdowns, stage presence, and energy they brought I found myself wanting more and hope to see them again.
After I Promised the World got the crowd warmed up and moving was British act Split Chain. Prior to the set I had heard a little bit of their music but wasn’t too familiar with them either but again left their set a fan. They brought so much energy and engagement with the crowd on top of sounding phenomenal. They had the crowd in their grip the entire time they were on stage and looked like they were having so much fun themselves as well as saying Jacksonville was one of the best crowds they had of the entire tour.
Before TDWP took the stage there was still one more band to go and that being easy core legends Four Year Strong. I personally was super excited to catch another FYS set after seeing them headline after their latest album and play at warped tour last fall as they always sound incredible and get crowds going insane. Of course once again they lived up to that expectation blowing the doors off the building and getting the crowd moving the most it has been so far. They sounded massive and had so much energy and presence on stage setting the stage perfectly for TDWP to come up next.
Finally, it was time for the band everyone was ready to see, The Devil Wears Prada. At this point TDWP may be the band I’ve seen the most and every time they somehow seem to be better than the last never ceasing to be one of the most exciting, energetic, and overall best sounding live bands in the scene. Bringing a setlist filled with new music after the release of their latest album “Flowers” as well as deep cuts that had us all surprised such as Supernova and Kansas. The crowd was feeding into them the entire time they were on stage bringing the most energy of the night and singing along every word. They would come back on stage for a multi song encore and once again performing what will end up being a top set of the year for me and I’m sure everyone who attended.
