CONCERT REVIEW: THE ALDOUS COLLINS BAND AT THE BRIGHTON MUSIC HALL Allston, MA

On March 7, 2026, The Brighton Music Hall in Allston, MA, welcomed The Aldous Collins Band, as the headliner and with opening acts including Weymouth’s, Jay Psaros, and 3rd Left.

The show started at 8:00 p.m. with Jay Psaros as the opener. A talented musician from Massachusetts, Jay Psaros has always had an interest in music. He started playing piano and guitar as a young kid and became fascinated with music in high school.

As a singer-songwriter, Psaros has always been a committed live performer. With his band he has covered a wide range of musical influences from New England Folk/Rock and his own brand of New England Americana. At Brighton Music Hall, Psaros was fantastic. He executed a list of songs from his large repertoire including Whiskey in the Rain – Rise When you Fall – The Trees Beyond the Town – Dear Jane – Strangers Again – California –I- A- Hold on My Love – The Orphan – Only Love – The Bridge – Dreaming of Long Ago, etc.

The second opener for the night was 3rd Left. A Plymouth, Massachusetts-based, 3rd Left is a four-member “funky rock and roll” band known for playing electric live shows around the South Shore area. They feature a mix of rock, jazz, and funk influences, and released music on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud.

The members include Brian Hitchings (vocals, guitar), James Calandrella (saxophone), Bryan Pierce (bass), Zak Fey (drums)and Quincy Medagliar (guitar). Known for albums such as It’s in the Bottle and Live at Memorial Hall, 3rd Left played for an hour and most of their songs were from their album It’s in the Bottle released in 2010. I have seen them many times and they are fantastic and play with high energy at each time.  Brian Hitchings is a legend, and whenever I see his name on a concert announcement, I try to attend the show.

At 9:30 p.m. The Aldous Collins Band, as the headliner hit the stage. A New-England-based band known for blending indie, rock, reggae, and soul, the group is led by singer-songwriter Aldous Collins. The band included a list of talented musicians such as Aldous Collins (vocals/guitar), Dylan O’Neil (guitar/vox), Luke Brech (drums), Brian Rowe (sax/keys/vox), Phil Grenier (sound engineer) Declan Kelehan (bass/vocals).

The live music show was a night of exceptional and very fun music. People were singing, dancing, and drinking. Fans went crazy throughout the night as they listened to different genres of songs playing by all the bands.

As a rock/reggae/soul band, The Aldous Collins gained significant traction in the New England musical scene, releasing albums including Sunshine and Grass (2025), Lighting in a Bottle (2025), Twitching (2024), Closer to the Sun (2023), and Bernadette (2015). Described as “indie funk” or “good vibe” music, their music is often focusing on daily life and positivity.

“It gives a feel of the energy we bring,” said Collins. Our music now exhibits a greater degree of energy and positivity compared to previous works.

With that been said, this was an incredibly fantastic night, and all kinds of music were played. The large audience loved every minute of this amazing show, and the ambiance was friendly and supportive of these great musicians. Aldous Collins Band had his close friend Brian Hitching sit in and 3rd Left had Chase Stebbins and they were great!!! Everyone was sad when the show ended and wanted more music!
