Concert Review: Taz at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, Massachusetts

Updated: Feb 27

With freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall, on February 20, 2026, TAZ performed at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, MA. The performance is part of the “Taz” Niederauer Tour 2026.

Born in 2003 in Dix Hills, New York, Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, is a renowned young American blues/rock guitarist, singer and actor. The Twenty-Two-year-old phenomenon began playing guitar at age seven. His collaborations with artists like Gary Clark Jr. and other entities including the 1980s LA glam metal band TAZ, and various alternative hip-hop artists, make him today as one of the most popular young artists in the U.S. He also commanded festival headlining stages, including Coachella and MetLife Stadium opening for The Rolling Stones. Over the years, Taz has played with multiple members of the Allman Brothers Band, including Gregg Allman, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, Butch Trucks.

It all started at eight years old, when Brandon watched the movie School of Rock. Already inspired by his father’s record collection, Brandon instantly realized he was destined to play guitar. From that moment on, all day he did not stop to practice his guitar which rarely left his hands. Just four years later, Brandon was cast in the principal role of guitarist “Zack Mooneyham” in the Tony Award-nominated Andrew Lloyd Webber Broadway production, School of Rock the Musical.

In Pembroke, Massachusetts, TAZ had performed in all the subgenres: blues, rock, jam and R&B. The band has been mixing up a heady blend of classic rock influences with modern sensibilities and adventurous psychedelic improvisation, which had made the audience go crazy.

Surrounded by a group of talented musicians, Nathaniel Coben (bass), Kendall Everett (drums), Matt Godfrey on Hammond B3 organ, at Soundcheck Studios, TAZ played a list of their popular songs such as Smack’em, My Revival, Where I Belong, Paralyzed…Taz was just amazing, one of the best guitarists I have heard in a long time, especially since he is so young.  To me, it seems like Taz was born with his music, but his father told me that Taz was introduced to music at a very young age. In addition to his great guitar work, he is a talented singer and songwriter. I cannot wait to see him again when he returns to the Boston area. He puts so much emotion and feeling into his music and I just love it.

The ambiance was just amazing - although the weather’s challenge - that concert was one of their best. The music and the perfect sound permeated every inch of the venue to the delight of all. The band's sound was electric and their connection to the audience was strong. It was an exceptional night of live music.
