Recently, pop punk artist Taylor Acorn, based in Nashville, TN released a new album titled, "Poster Child." To celebrate its release, fans and friends alike gathered at Cannery Hall in Nashville, TN for an electric performance from Acorn herself, along with opening band Wilt, an alternative rock group from Los Angeles, CA.
Wilt took to the stage first with a burst of energy that immediately had the crowd captivated and dancing along. Though the stage in this venue was small, the members of Wilt bounded around it with bursts of energy, infusing their upbeat songs with a fun edge. Vocalist Chelsea Rifkin's smooth voice, occasionally mixed with an edgier vocal fry really brought the lyrics of the songs to life. Their performance was both energetic and absorbing, and by the end of the set everyone in the room could be found bopping or tapping their feet along to the beat. This alternative rock band is one you won't want to miss.
After Wilt's set concluded, it was Taylor Acorn's turn to dazzle the crowd. She ran onstage, all smiles as the audience cheered for her. To start off the set, Acorn played the titular track "Poster Child" off her new album. While the album has only been out for 5 days, fans were already singing along to every word. Acorn's set celebrated both her new album and previously released songs, with choices such as "Blood On Your Hands," "Coma," "Vertigo," and crowd favorite, "Psycho." Taylor Acorn played to the crowd like a seasoned performer. Not only was her sound tight and connected--thanks in part to the edgy instrumentals from her band--but she also made sure to interact with the crowd throughout the show. Whether she was pointing out eager fans in the crowd or kneeling down to eye level as she sang to those in the front row, Acorn was constantly in tune with her audience. It's always great to see a connection between artists and their fans, and Acorn demonstrated this with enthusiasm and appreciation. And of course, I can't mention her performance without discussing her technique. Her voice truly is a powerhouse, clear, controlled, and gentle, while also filled with endless emotion. Acorn's new album deals with themes of nostalgia and reminiscing on the past, which she brings to life beautifully with her powerful vocals and energetic instrumentals. It was definitely a treat to attend this album release party, and if you haven't had the opportunity to see Taylor Acorn live yet, you will definitely want to catch her on her upcoming tour.
