Concert Review: Silence Never Sounded This Loud: The Currents x ERRA Tour at Town Ballroom, Buffalo, NY

"The Silence Follows" tour featuring ERRA and Currents is the must-see metalcore tour this year! Each band delivered a punch that electrified the crowd while exploring various styles within hardcore and metalcore.

The opening band “Aviana” hails from Sweden, and they blew my mind. I had never heard of them, and I am the kind of person who wants to get to shows early to watch the openers, even when I don’t know them. I also believe that the best way to experience new music is to see it live, and they delivered. I was drawn in right away, seeing the guitarist and drummer walk on stage wearing masks. I know people may think it’s overplayed, but I love it because it adds an element to them and brings an element to the concertgoer.

The moment I heard Aviana's guitar tone, I realized I was about to experience some intense beatdown hardcore Swedish music, and they did not disappoint. Their stage presence took hold of the crowd, with the vocalist delivering powerful raw vocals and soothing cleans that brought calm to the chaos. What impressed me most was the energy Aviana gave off, and the crowd ate it up and gave it back. The crowd participated in mosh pits, circle pits, and a wall of death for the opener. I knew it was going to be an incredible night.

“Caskets” had a tough act to follow, yet they succeeded by delivering their mix of emotional post-hardcore, hardcore, and alternative rock from the sounds they created in Leeds. Although I had listened to this band a few times, I had never seen them live, and once again, they amazed me. From their opening track "Make Me a Martyr" to the last song of their set, the audience was as energetic as they were for "Aviana."

What I truly appreciated is that “Caskets” brings a whole different vibe and feel with Matt Flood’s impressive cleans, with a highly polished sound compared to “Aviana,” where they are more raw. Most people might think these two bands wouldn't complement each other back-to-back, but it works perfectly. With "Aviana," I often felt like dropping the camera to dive into the pit and join in with my stank face at its peak. In contrast, with "Caskets," I wanted to close my eyes and just feel the music and vibe with it. After the three songs with both bands, I found myself in the mosh pit vibing with the crowd while protecting my gear and finding new prospective shots.

The Alabama legends “ERRA” took the stage following “Caskets,” and with that, we saw the full production at work for the first time. What shocked me right away with ERRA is how they opened with “Gore of Being,” a track off their new album “Silence Outlives the Earth,” which was released March 6th, 2026.

The 14-track setlist prioritized newer material with a balance of fan favorites spanning the last decade. The setlist had heavy hitters with dynamic shifts into more atmospheric melodic-ambient tracks, which allowed the band's sound to shine and gave concertgoers a breather. They also shifted into more technical songs like “Gungrave” and proved to us how incredible J.T. 's vocal range is and how incredible the instrumentation is within the band. ERRA wrapped it up with a fan favorite and heavy hitter, which ended their set on a peak.

Progressive metalcore and Connecticut legends “Currents” kept the energy rolling and closed out the show. The 15-song setlist was a balance of the band's work with breakout hits and their newest material.

Opening with “So Alone” made a statement that “Currents” was here to deliver high energy, and the crowd ate it up with a mosh pit opening and crowd surfers floating over the crowd. The set transitions into a groove section that “Currents” has in their catalog, showcasing Chris' intricate guitar work, all while having bouncy djent riffs to keep the energy flowing. They also sprinkled in the emotional bangers that hit us in the feels, “Better Days” and “Kill The Ache,” where the crowd sang, screamed, and moshed with emotion. “Currents” ended their set with their heaviest material, leaving me and fellow concertgoers both exhausted and emotionally moved.

The production of “The Silence Follows” is absolutely incredible. It’s not over the top or anything that we haven’t seen already, but the LED walls, movers, LED bars, strobes, and trussing setup are well designed. I also need to give a shout-out to the Lighting Designer (LD) because while the setup is well designed, without their work it wouldn't have mattered. The LD was able to take the music and translate it into an emotional atmosphere using color and movement. If you're the LD for this tour, all I can say is well done!

I also want to highlight J.T.'s stage presence during the show. There were numerous moments where I saw him enjoying the music, much like he was on a side quest in World of Warcraft. At other times, he transformed into a dynamic force, taking command of the stage and engaging the audience with direct eye contact, creating an intimate experience for the fans.

I want to commend the  bassist of "Currents," and I think it was the drummer or guitarist who, after the show, talked to fans at the barricade. The show ended around 10:25 pm, and I watched them talk to fans and have meaningful conversations until 10:40 when we were asked to leave the stage area so the crew could break down the stage. More bands and artists need to go back to this, regardless of their fame. These brief conversations mean the world to fans, and they stick with us longer than we remember the show. Great job, “Currents!”

“The Silence Follows” tour is going strong until April 19th, 2026, and I can’t recommend this tour enough to everyone. “Aviana,” “Caskets,” “ERRA,” and “Currents” bring different elements of hardcore/metalcore to the stage as if they are pieces of a puzzle for what is one of the best tour lineups I have seen in a long time.
