Concert Review: Playing Dead at Soundcheck Studios - A Tribute to Bob Weir

I love Bob Weir’s music and all his different endeavors, from The Grateful Dead to The Wolf Brothers and to Dead and Company and many more bands. Losing Bob Weir is a musical tragedy to the entire world particularly to his millions of fans.

We need to heal and this was the perfect concert to help us dealing with this difficult moment and sharing our love to someone like Bobby who gave so much to put live music where it is today.

At Soundcheck Studios Playing Dead delivered an excellent performance and the group demonstrated that the music has endured a great loss with the departure of Bob Weir but it is still alive more than ever. The room was packed with enthusiastic deadheads and everyone at the venue loved this extraordinary performance.

Playing Dead was terrific. Their show was an impressive, skillful entertainment, and it was an emotional moment to remember all those who contributed to live music, especially Bob Weir.

Playing Dead members are Vic Derobertis (lead guitar, vocals), Jim Harris (rhythm guitar, vocals, "looks" like Bob Weir), Mark Munzer (keyboards, vocals), Dave Olson (bass vocals) and Brian Epstein (drums).

Their marathon sets feature music and jams from the entire Grateful Dead catalog. They faithfully recreate the experience of a live Grateful Dead concert where the set lists are a complex stew of different styles of music including rock, blues, jazz, folk, bluegrass and more. Their improvisational style and large repertoire guaranteed that every musical performance would be unique. Every Playing Dead show is equally unique featuring different set lists each night and exciting improvisational jams.
