Concert Review: Nothing More, Doobie, Archers and Catch Your Breath at The Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver BC

On March 9th 2026 at The Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver BC, Nothing More’s Carnal Tour took the city by storm.

The night kicked off with Doobie, who immediately impressed me with a crisp, well-balanced sound. Their lead vocalist showcased incredible control and technique throughout the set, delivering powerful vocals while maintaining a gritty edge. They were quite fun to photograph, as they brought a lively stage presence with lots of movement and energy. An unexpected yet memorable moment? They whipped out a cover song. Rather than closely replicating the original, the band put their own spin on it, adding a layer of uniqueness to their set. Their drummer was clearly in his element, and did a great job carrying the sound of the band. What could be heard of the bass tone came through deep and gravel-y, which gave a strong foundation to the mix. For me, the guitar solo was a standout moment of the set. I always love a good guitar solo.

Archers followed suit with a set where the bassist’s stage presence quickly commanded the attention of the crowd. While the band didn’t initially engage super heavily with the crowd... Their performance still boasted a strong energy on stage, and they ramped it up more as the set went on. Sonically speaking, the bass sat more forward in the mix than the bass in the previous set. I thought this worked very well for their sound, and this addition definitely gave the songs heavier depth. The synchronicity and balance between the main vocals and backing vocals was astounding. The harmonies complemented each other beautifully, without one overpowering the other. Later on in the set, the band opened the wall of death that brought lots of crowd interaction. While the drop leading up to the run was a bit unclear from where I was, I could clearly tell everyone was having a great time.

Catch Your Breath took the storm by stage next, delivering a fiery stage presence from the second they walked on. While they didn’t have an elaborate stage setup, their energy would have taken attention away from props anyways. Their vocalist’s performance was extremely noteworthy for multiple reasons. Not just the strength of his vocals, but also how effortlessly he maintained them despite constantly running and jumping around the stage. Between songs, electronic sounds and robotic voice effects told some stories and further enhanced the band’s vibe. The bass tone once again stood out to me, as it was incredibly prominent in the mix. So far this show’s been refreshing to see, considering how many artists are drawing attention to their basses. The members all looked happy be there. The band also spoke openly about addiction and mental health, which moved the crowd and added even more emotion to the performance. Honestly speaking, these guys were near record.

Finally, it was time for Nothing More to take the stage. Before they even walked on, the energy in the room shifted with excitement. Their frontman burst onto the stage and from that point forward, he did not stopped moving for the rest of the set. He was the epitome of relentless energy and was bouncing around left, right and centre. The rest of the band matched his energy perfectly and although they obviously couldn’t ping-pong around the room the same way, they were constantly smiling and interacting with each other. The way Nothing More was engaging with their audience, it was evident how much they appreciate their fans. The crowd enjoyed singing along to the music and everyone’s voices were filling the venue. The band brought out the vocalist from Archers for a surprise feature on Freefall, and they absolutely crushed it! What a dynamic duo of powerhouse vocalists. This show was nonstop entertainment and included a guitar solo and playful moments where Dan and Mark  teamed up for a bass-slapping shenanigan, with the bass being spun around like a rotisserie chicken. At one point, Jonny started beating it with drum sticks much to my bassist partner’s dismay. He eventually jumped back behind a drum setup which served as a reminder that he originally started as one.  The band decided to let the crowd choose a song they would play and the vote decided on Spirits, which they absolutely crushed. The show closed with a high energy outro that put you on your toes with every instrument being played together, and then they left the crowd that note. All in all I would say this was one of the best sets I’ve seen from them yet!
