Concert Review: Nine Days and Better Than Ezra at The Ridgefield Playhouse

Nine Days and Better Than Ezra brought a wave of ‘90s nostalgia to The Ridgefield Playhouse, delivering a night that felt both timeless and refreshingly alive.

Opening the evening, Nine Days took the stage with an intimate, stripped-down set that leaned into their signature storytelling. Best known for their hit “Absolutely (Story of a Girl),” the band reminded the audience why their music still resonates decades later. Their performance was beautiful, blending fan favorites with an easygoing stage presence that immediately warmed up the room.

There was a sense of authenticity in their delivery, just honest songwriting and a clear appreciation for the crowd in front of them.

By the time Better Than Ezra hit the stage, the energy had noticeably shifted from reflective to electric. The band delivered a set that balanced nostalgia with spontaneity. Their classics were met with enthusiastic singalongs, while unexpected covers and mashups added a playful edge to the night.

What stood out most was the band’s ability to evolve their sound without losing its core identity. BTEs performance felt expansive and high-energy, creating a connection that fans often miss

Together, the pairing of Nine Days and Better Than Ezra created a well-balanced lineup: one rooted in reflective nostalgia, the other in vibrant, crowd-driven energy. It was a reminder that ‘90s alternative rock isn’t just surviving—it’s still thriving on stage.
