Concert Review: Lakeview Bring Southern Rock Firepower to King Tut's Glasgow

Tattooed singer in a cap belts into a mic on a smoky orange-lit stage, with another performer and crowd watching.

There is something special about seeing a band on the rise in a venue like King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, and this show Lakeview show felt exactly like that.

Before the headliners took the stage, Dundee rock outfit Red Vanilla did a fantastic job of warming up the crowd. Their fantastic set quickly got people in the mood and set the tone perfectly for the night ahead. By the time they left the stage, the crowd was ready and waiting for what was to come.

When Lakeview finally emerged, the atmosphere inside King Tut's shifted instantly. The Glasgow crowd greeted them with a huge roar, and from the opening song it was clear the band had no intention of letting the energy levels drop.

At the heart of it all were Luke Healy and Jesse Denaro. The chemistry between the two frontmen is a huge part of what makes Lakeview such a compelling live act. Their vocals complemented each other perfectly throughout the night, effortlessly switching between powerful lead parts and soaring harmonies that had the crowd singing along at every opportunity.

Both Luke and Jesse commanded the stage from start to finish. Whether they were working opposite sides of the stage or standing shoulder to shoulder during some of the bigger moments, they had the audience completely locked in. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and it was obvious they were enjoying every second of being in front of a packed Glasgow crowd.

The atmosphere throughout the evening was electric. Fans sang back every lyric, raised their drinks in the air and embraced every moment. There was a real sense of connection between the band and the audience, something that can only happen when both sides are feeding off each other's energy.

As the set progressed, the crowd only seemed to get louder. Every chorus was met with a wall of voices, and every song brought another huge reaction. It felt less like a band playing to an audience and more like a room full of people sharing the same experience.

By the time the final notes rang out, Lakeview had delivered exactly the kind of performance that leaves people talking long after they've left the venue. Luke and Jesse were outstanding throughout, backed by a band that sounded tight, powerful and completely on point from start to finish.

For those lucky enough to be there, this wasn't just another stop on the tour. It was a reminder of how exciting live music can be when a band is firing on all cylinders. And the crowd showed the appreciation they deserved, so set them up for performing at Download Festival the following day.
