On Thursday, November 13, 2025, Kitchen Dwellers, as the headliner, and The Mallett Brothers as the opener, performed at The Sinclair, Cambridge, MA. Wow, this was an amazing and incredible night of Blue Grass and Rock Music.
The concert started at 8:00 p.m. with The Mallett Brothers. Originally from Portland, Maine, The Mallett Brothers is fronted by two brothers, Luc Mallett (vocals, guitar), and Will Mallett (guitar, banjo, vocals). The band has a unique blend of Bluegrass and rock music with an amazing fiddle player.
As usual, The Mallett Brothers were great. From touring all over the United States and particularly over New England, the group gained a solid reputation. The audience was amazed to listen to a list of songs from the four full-length albums released by the band. Songs such as “Watch You Walk Away”, “Dogs & Horses”, and “Low Down” were among those songs played by the Mallett Brothers at The Sinclair.
At 9:30 p.m. Kitchen Dwellers, the progressive bluegrass band, formed in 2010 in Bozeman Montana blending traditional bluegrass, folk, and rock with influences from rock ’n’ roll, psychedelic music, and jam grass, hit the stage. Kitchen Dwellers executed an extraordinary show for the joy of several hundreds of fans present at the venue. Strong performance of the group composed of Shawn Swain (mandolin), Torrin Daniels (banjo), Joe Funk (upright bass), and Max Davies (acoustic guitar).
The bluegrass band was terrific. Taking their influence from the Grateful Dead, they executed their music incorporating themes from the American West and featuring a strong emphasis on storytelling and improvisation.
At The Sinclair, Kitchen Dwellers played a series of songs released from several albums including Ghost in the Bottle (2017), Muir Maid (2019), Wise River (2022), and Seven Devils (2024).
Known for energetic live performances, the group which has played at major venues and festivals like Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Telluride Bluegrass executed a memorable bluegrass show in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Their performance once again highlighted their energetic style, which blends bluegrass with rock and jam band influences, creating a unique and “greasy” sound. This was one of the best bluegrass shows I shot as a photographer and as a fan of rock live music I loved every minute.
