Concert Review: gracie at The End in Nashville, TN

On Friday, June 26th, The End in Nashville, TN welcomed alternative pop artist gracie for a show celebrating the release of her new record, "Miss Misfortunately." The album dropped the day of the show, so fans were treated to a mix of new songs and those already released as singles. 

The End is on the smaller side of a concert venue, but it was packed full of people excited to see the show. It was one of the most crowded shows I've seen there, with little room to move around. The crowd was enthusiastic, too, singing and dancing to the music, and cheering for more between songs. 

One of my favorite parts of the show was the way the stage was set up. The ceiling had paper stars and a disco ball hanging from it, and the walls were draped in sparkling fabric. Across the back wall of the stage was a homemade banner with painted letters: "Miss Misfortunately." The whole set felt very reminiscent of a school dance. When combined with the LED panels surrounding the back of the stage and the constant fog, it was like being transported right back to high school. 

The moment gracie came onstage, she completely grabbed the crowd, her presence lively and commanding. Her powerful vocals only added to it, and it was impossible to look away from her. gracie's band was just as energetic. Even though there wasn't a lot of room to move, the guitarists and bassist utilized every inch of space on the stage, and while the drummer was harder to see in the back because of the smoke, it was obvious he was jamming too. All of the musicians complimented each other and put on a dynamic performance. 

gracie's music is punchy, emotional, and fun. And with a bit of a grit from the instrumentals, it's an addicting combination. For the more upbeat songs, they're great to dance to, whereas the slower ones are easy to get lost in. gracie is clearly a talented songwriter and musician, and I'm excited to see where she goes in the future.
