Courtney Barnett’s 5th stop of her tour brought her to The Tabernacle in Atlanta, Georgia. Currently on her Creature of Habit tour through North America. Creature of Habit is Courtney’s fifth album and her first since 2021. Along on the ride is singer Truman Sinclair. Sinclair, also a member of the emo/indie rock band Frat Mouse, has released an album titled “American Recordings” last year and, after signing with Capitol Records, is set to release his next album in the fall of this year.
A rainy May 6th didn’t stop fans from packing in as the doors opened and showtime grew nearer. The Los Angeles based singer, Truman Sinclair, started the show with his Bob Dylan, Tom Petty inspired harmonica-filled folk songs. He introduced himself and his band and celebrated that this is his first time performing at the Tabernacle. The crowd danced and swayed to Truman’s performance. His set included hit songs like “stuck,” “dust to dust,” and “pale horse” as well as unreleased songs like “Caught.” Much attention should be given to Truman Sinclair from all Americana fans out there.
Courtney Barnett, no stranger to Atlanta’s many venues, took the stage to a roaring crowd. The background of the concert was a massive image of a praying mantis which the same can be seen on the album cover. Not wasting much time on talking, Courtney got right into her set with “Stay In Your Lane.” Courtney sang pretty much all the songs from her Creature of Habit album as well as others from past albums. The setlist included songs like “Avant Gardener,” “Mantis,” and “Site Unseen” as well as my favorite of hers “Pedestrian at Best.” Courtney’s deadpan delivery and insightful lyrics along with her guitar shredding, as well as her band mates’, is definitely something to be seen and heard.
