On March 1, 2026, Briscoe’s national tour stopped at the Sinclair Music Hall, a beautiful music venue located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Austin-based band formed by Truett Heintzelman and Philip Lupton was terrific from the beginning to the end. Several hundred fans attended the event to celebrate the band, making it an exceptional evening of live music.
The show started at 8:00 p.m. with Jack Blocker as the opener. The American alternative country and pop/rock singer-songwriter and musician from Dallas County, Texas, energized the crowd with several of his own written songs including If Heaven Looks Like Arkansas, I Was Wrong, All of Yours and more.
Blocker was a contestant on Season 22 of American Idol. He managed to create a show story when, for the first time, the crowd was consulted on a contestant’s performance. Blocker introduced himself as a graphic designer and artist and told the judges he would be playing a song he’d written called “I Was Wrong”. With a style inspired by folk, country, and bluegrass, Jack gave the performance his all. As usual, at Sinclair Jack Blocker was great. He received a strong acclamation from the audience.
At 9:15 p.m. Briscoe, as the headliner hit the stage. Formed by Truett Heintzelman and Philip Lupton, the group is composed of Matt Musso, Michael Musso, Andrew Read. Philip and Truett are the main duo. Regarding Truett and Lupton, the idea to play music together began when they met as teenagers at Laity Lodge Youth Camp, a Christian summer camp in the Hill Country.
Attending the University of Texas in Austin during the pandemic, they began to aggressively pursue gigs. They released an EP in 2020 and their debut album, West of It All, in 2023.
At the Sinclair Music Hall, Briscoe began the show with the entertaining song Tell Me (my banjo intro jam). The group made the song in 2020 and is part of Briscoe’s self-album EP. They continued their performance with Heat of July which is part of their new album released on September 19, 2025. They played several other songs from their first album, West It All, released in 2023. Each song has contributed to the success of Briscoe and has solidified their presence in the musical scene.
“A lot of what we’re writing is inspired by people or places or specific situations,” Heintzelman said during an interview to introduce the album “West of It All”. It’s almost a roadmap including hunting trips to the remote reaches of West Texas, driving through the Canyonlands of Arizona, or simply visiting Fayetteville, Arkansas, where Heintzelman’s wife lived when the couple first started dating.”
“Because we were writing in the van, a lot of times writing lyrics looked more like writing poetry”, Heintzelman says. “I’ve just got this new appreciation for trying to curate and make sure that every aspect of a song is something you can hang your hat on.”
Playing a blend of Americana, folk-rock, and indie pop, with their heartfelt lyrics, soaring harmonies, and infectious melodies, Briscoe have become a very successful band in the United States. Their performances in Boston have proved that their effective legacy in the music world stage is real and will continue to grow over the following years.
